All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Originally just a trash filled muddy depression where seepage bubbled up, I dug a 10 x 20 foot, 1 foot deep area out, surrounded it with native rocks, rock and sand bottom and planted native plants from the woods around it. Laid underground a small drainage overflow pipe from it to south end of pond. (May 2012)

(Probably another long babbling like I just did on your comment on a necklace).  At the start of 2000 I returned to Ohio from my art business in Florida to become caregiver to my aging and ailing parents and put all my art studio in storage since it would be a full-time career taking care of mom & dad). Dad went to the Lord in 2002 and mom followed April-2009. Due to my having spent my savings, gone deep into debt with credit cards on their medical/legal issues, I found myself penniless and homeless until the small inheritance worked it's way through the legal system over the next 9 months (used the last of money to pay 1 years rent on art equipment storage). Working with the various homeless aid providers (especially Lutheran social services) I developed contacts with the Veteran's Administration (I was a US Marine in my early manhood), I obtained a very low rate of financing the purchase of 10 acres of woods (along with a prefabricated kit for log home) about 45 miles south east of where I grew up. (originally I planned on returning to Florida and resuming my life there, but I always liked this area of state forests & parks: it was always dad's dream to purchase some woods here as a retreat. Well, all the finances and sale went through on January 10, 2010 and I was the proud owner of 10 acres of forest with 2 old falling apart mobile homes, several rusting cars and trash throughout. The first 3 months was just clearing out the rubbish, having the broken down cars & trailers removed, then preparing the spot to build the cabin.  It took 6 months of working all day to build the cabin in time to have the basics done to were I could move in; during that winter I completed the electrical wiring and water plumbing and walls and planning for what I wanted to do in 2011. (Had enough of art studio setup to provide basic income). Entire 2011 was cutting down dead/diseased dying trees and replanting seedlings to replace them, planting a small fruit tree orchard,  digging 2 stream to/from where I wanted a pond then building the pond itself, planting wildflowers and grasses for the wildlife. 2012 was fine tuning everything, building 3 small sheds around the woods for storage, and starting beehives. I tried to not overdevelop the natural beauty of the woods, simply repair and restore. It was hard, dirty, sweaty, hot work but I enjoyed working with my hands, and God gave me much serenity in the labor. I really enjoyed being found worthy to be His tool in bringing beauty into the world.

Oh, here is a photo of what this pool looked like originally:
