Next year when I start my canoe trip, one of the places I want to spend a few weeks is a creek in Illinois called "Mazon Creek" (it's world famous, like all sorts of web sites on it). It was a prehistoric swamp of same time as these, now the creek cuts through a soft white shale that has concretions, rock balls, that when you crack them in half have plants, insects and such: always wanted to go there. Mostly though my interest is in ancient coral reefs since that is rocks here in, I'll make an album of that.
