Do you ever find yourself putting off time with God or at times just not getting around to it? If that's a tendency in your life, then it is worth examining why that happens. For some, perhaps there is still an element of feeling like we must be in a relatively good place spiritually before we come to God. "I just messed up, so I better get some distance from that mistake before I go to God." But if that's part of our thought process, then that indicates we still go to God at least in part based on our own merit. It means we don't yet have a full revelation of the finished work of Christ on our behalf. The Bible exhorts us to come before God's throne boldly. We do so because of Jesus. It is from the Father, when we come to Him boldly in Christ, that we obtain both mercy and grace. That means when we've just made a mistake and messed up is exactly the time when we should go to God boldly because He is waiting to show us mercy. Even better, God has more than mercy for our mistakes waiting for us to receive when we go to Him. He also offers His grace, His unmerited favor. That grace and favor is ready for you anytime you're willing to receive it. You've got nothing at all to lose and everything to gain by going to God, seeking His face, as you come boldly to His throne. You do well to make it a priority today and every day.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. — Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
