I loooove to read (sounds boring I know), travel, eat, run, real estate, sustainable development, progressive politics, global issues, "underdogs", movies, intellectual (but relevant) conversations (useless debates are a waste of time), music, skylines
I'm passionate about...
God's will for my life, my family and wife, destiny.
I recently read that passion comes when a vision and cause connect... my vision is to enhance the real estate development industry through the equitable development of communities that are economically, environmentally and socially sustainable.
My story with God
Wow, where do I begin! God's hand has been with me from my years of mischief and self-destruction to now, a man who desires to bring God's Kingdom to manifest in my life here on earth. I was saved "the first time" when I was 12 yo but I really did not know what I was being saved from. I grew up in a loving household that attended church, as I like to say, 17 times a week, but never felt a relationship with Christ. As most disgruntled believers do, I left the church for a number of years because I truly did not see the benefit. It seemed that everywhere I looked in the Body of Christ I saw brokenness, poverty and unintelligence. I thought to myself, "there has to be more than this, this cannot be the will of God for His people".
God really started dealing with me about 2 years ago when I joined a growing ministry and began "experience" God's precense. I began seeking God's wisdom and slowly I began to understand God's will for my life. The tip of the proverbial iceberg when God spoke to me at a time when I was very comfortable at a local real estate firm. He said it was time to go and like... right now God... not right now. But I was obedient.
Enter Yahya's wilderness. I tell you my new friends in Christ that God broke me down... after my departure from the firm, like most new believers, I thought that it was a "brief period of time" that I would be 'unavailable' while God 'did His thing'. I could not have been more off to say it politely!
I'm still standing y'all with a testimony that will blow your socks off! Today I feel like Moses did in Exodus, I'm walking in the instructions I've been given but I have no CLUE how Yahya is going to do it without Christ being with me. I've never been "here"... so on fire for God and His Kingdom work! I'm learning more about God's systems and principles especially GRACE -- Oh how we need it because left to our own devices... hmmmm, well you know. God has not met a formidable opponent yet!
I could go on for a while but I'll stop here... stay tuned my friends because God is not finished yet!
Other stuff about me:
I like to consdier myself an activist/politician/smart growth advocate/bottom line kind of guy. I believe in responsible civic and political engagement.
Pssst... Don't tell my wife, but I have aspirations to run for public office (city coucil, mayor, maybe state level). My wife thinks I'm insane but we need GOD in politics as well, right?
Hi, Continue to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has a wonderful plan in your life. Continue to read the bible, His words, continue to pray and continue to serv Him through your church. God will use you to encourage people and for people who are not save for them to know Christ personally.God bless
