My story with God

I was raised in a family that always went to Baptist churches. When I was younger maybe 11 or 12 I was saved. My parents went through a divorce and after I finished high school I moved away to Louisiana with a guy I barely knew. I was not living a good Christian life for several years. We got married. It didn't help that he was Catholic and wouldn't go to any church. I had a job as a dancer and felt such guilt and shame about what had happened with my life. Hurricane Katrina flooded our apartment and tore our world upside down. I wasn't in a good marriage. He was an alcoholic and once a good friend of ours passed away his drinking got out of control and violent. I tried to leave once but ended up coming back. The next time I left I had made up my mind to change my life. I also had some support from a wonderful friend I made. I lived with my grandma who is a good Christian woman and I rededicated my life to God. I worked hard and my life came back together. I filed for divorce even though I don't believe in it, I know God doesn't like divorce and it was something I struggled with. My friend Chris and I started having a long distance relationship which gave me the space and time I needed to heal and grow. After 6 months I moved back to Slidell to be with Chris. He bought a house so we could be together and I didn't have anywhere else to stay in Louisiana. I know God didn't want us living together in wedlock but I felt like I was out of options and Chris is such a wonderful and caring person. I started going to a Methodist church about 5 mins away from the house and I went for about 6 months and then became a member. Eventually Chris started to go with me and we have been going there for about 2 years. We try to go most Sunday's now. He proposed after we were together for 4 years and we are getting married in June.

Other stuff about me:

I am a very hard worker. I love animals and babies. I am a mostly positive and upbeat person. I like to stay busy. I guess I am a workaholic since I have had 2 jobs for about 5 years. Most of my friends consider me a neat freak and probably think I am high strung. I like a sense of order in my house and in my life. I have had several friends call me "mom" just because I try to take care of everyone but myself.
