God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
What is going on in the world, and how and if I can make it better, to the Glory of God. The rest is just minor things such as scrapbooking, photography, hiking, horseback riding, sports, sailing, canoing, kyaking, reading, and more reading and of course my dogs.
I'm passionate about...
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The trinity.
My story with God
He's been shaking my cage lately : )
Other stuff about me:
I am single and never been married. I have been trying to adopt for the last 5 going on 6 years and been unsuccessful. I have been fostering 2 going on 3 years. I love animals and children very much, and have dogs at home. I was in an MVA in 1998 and can no longer work in the office and teach skating. So now I can be involved with kids through fostering, and yes I am still waiting for my own chosen children.

Hi dear friend

This is in response to the comment you made a few weeks ago on Tom's blog about the earthquake. In it, you described a friend of yours who claimed that God judged a man who been injured. That man was then killed in a plane crash. The question was raised, Were both men judged by God?
I too have struggled with these questions, and I've listened as men claim that this or that tragedy was an Act of God. But is that what the Bible teaches? Is every bad thing that happens in life a direct result of God's judgment?
The people of Jesus' day made the same claim. A tower under construction collapsed, killing 18 people. Was this an act of God? Jesus asked: 'do you imagine that they were proved greater debtors than all other men inhabiting Jerusalem?' (Lu 13:4). The answer is obvious.
According to Scripture, all have sinned and fall short, (Ro 3:23), and are therefore under penalty of death. These men, however, were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. (Ec 9:11) It could have been that the construction methods used to build the tower were inadequate, or that the materials were flawed. Is this God's fault?
The same could be said about the propane co. and the plane. If there was some defect in the construction, could we rightly say that it was God's will for the plane to crash?
What if it was simple human error? One could say that God's hand guides all matters, but what about free will? Are we not given the ability to choose between good and bad? Wasn't that the point of the Tree of Good and Evil? What of the plea God made with the Israelites when they accepted the law? (De 30:15-20)
When people attempt to pin upon God every bad thing that happens in life, either because the person did something wicked and was judged, or because 'God works in mysterious Ways', aren't they unintentionally absovling of responsiblity those whom the Bible points to as the true source of evil in the world, man and Satan?
I just wanted to share these thoughts with you.
Cheers,
Sam
My intent wasn't to correct, merely to share some of the scriptural thoughts that has been shared with me in the past. It can be very difficult to shift through your feeling when dealing with a tragedy like this. I agree with you wholeheartedly, it is not our business to judge, but instead to follow the Way.
