My Testimony Where to start. My name is Brooke Hicks, and I am twenty one years old. Back in the day, I had a family and we were: Mormon, Baptist, and practiced Wicca. My mom never had a true interest to get to know me as a daughter, and My Dad was basically my mom and dad. When we got into the Wicca everything fell to pieces. We had just built a beautiful home, New cars, my parents were the on the neighborhood committee, money was good.., ect. All of that stopped. My family was no more. My mom and dad became swingers and loved to party every weekend. Soon after, the got divorced. My mom won custody over me and my little brother. The first year with her was constant yelling, physical abuse and last but not least she kicked me out. This kept on happening until I turned around 15 or 16. I would go back and forth to each parents home until the day that she kicked me out for good. I wasn't a bad kid, I just wanted a mother's love that she couldn't or wouldn't give me. My Dad showed me love, but I never gave up on her. When she kicked me out for good, she made me marry my first boyfriend whom I only known for 9 months. I didn’t know who I was or what marriage was about. Partly she did it to hurt my father. He never walked me down the aisle. Anyways...I stayed married unhappily for almost 4 years. I got my own apartment and started living in the world BIG time. Drugs, selling, smoking myself, going out to the club, private dances, alcohol...ect. ect. I wasn't happy and I knew it. I went to see Roy fields in Powdersville SC. Basically felt Gods touch and love! The love God gives you can fill any void!!!! I had given my life COMPLEATELY to him. I even told him that I didn't want a man in my life... just him. I met the love of my life at the revival....I just didn’t know it until later on. I told God that he would have to tell me who the one for me was.. or else I wanted no part of it. God Finally spoke a month and a half into our new found friendship. We have been together ever since. God is amazing, wondrous, eternal love! That is enough to make me happy. God has even sent me money from unknown sources, brought to Nick ( my fiancé) a beautiful engagement ring, and shown us what he has in store for our lives!!! I know this is ONLY the beginning of great things to come. God is just waiting on us to receive him! The time for the Lord is now and forever!!!
Long time ago, there was an Emperor who told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered.
Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible.
Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, "Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."
The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health , time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love.
One day when we look back , we will realize that we don't really need that much , but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed.
Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition.
not about work!
Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life.. Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal time.
You have to decide how you want to balance your Life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts. Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of Life, the whole aim of human existence. So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature. Life is fragile , Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Live a balanced lifestyle and enjoy Life!
Hi Brooke it is good to meet you. I am wondering if you have met Bob and Marcia Moston who were pastors at my church for 11 years and retired to Greenville last year. I do not know the name of the church they attend, but it is huge. We miss them very much. God gave us a new pastor who is wonderful. It would be cool if you knew them.
It is also cool that you want open a home called house of peace. In my city a young Jewish couple became born again back in the 1970s and had a home just like your vision Called Beth Shalom(house of peace). I think your vision for youth is right on and I will stand with you in prayer.
In the love of Jesus.
Bob

Where will you be when the last bell sound?
As we all know, every student needs to be examine. Have you ever examine yourself with the word of God before? Apostle Paul said in the book of Philippians 3:14 that “I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus”. Meaning that he was sure that one day, he will be part of the kingdom of God if only he continue to do the will of God. Have you ever sat down and think about where you will be when Christ comes?
Only the victorious runners in the Lord Jesus will receive the reward. Apostle Paul said in one of his books that “don’t you know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one get the prize? Run in such away as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to receive a crown that will not last; but we do it to receive a crown that will last forever”. Please it is good for us to prepare ourselves for his coming so that we can receive the crown that will last forever. Remember that we are warriors; warriors are ever ready for every battle. We have to make ourselves ready for the Lord coming because the hour is unknown. Read the story about the ten virgin in the bible (matt.25:1-13). In the book of Philippians 3:13 says “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead”. Permit me to tell you this, what is ahead of us is greater than anything on this earth. It is written that all things shall pass away but the word of God lives forever. So let us not allow things of this world to drive us from the kingdom of God. Forget about the pass and press on towards the goal to win the prize.
I want to give you a typical example about chasing things of the world. My father is a pagan and he really loves things of this world. The marine spirit took him away into the sea for seven good years. When the spirit brought him back, he became rich and even used some of the money to sew dresses (pants). To be frank, the spirit deceived him and now he is nothing before men. I can say, sometimes what he have to eat is a problem for him. At first he hate to see us because we are Christian but now the Lord is touching his heart. Listen to this carefully, we went to him to preach for repentance and this is what he said: My children, i have pass through a lot of things, I have tested all spirit but I have now release that there is power above all powers and that power is the name Jesus Christ, and He is Lord of lords. I know one day I will accept him before I die”. So you see , there is nothing good in this world than in heaven. The bible says we should not love the world or any thing in the world, anyone that love the world the love of the father is not in him. so called Christian are carried by the world, they seek other powers to get rich and enjoy their life. Jesus said not everyone that say Lord, lord shall enter into the kingdom of God.
Most people are following miracle today but the bible says in Mark 16:17 and this sign will accompany those who believe: ………………… but not we following the signs. I don’t know whether the same thing is happen in your country. In Africa this time, people are really following miracles but not miracles following them. Instead of given their life to Christ fully, so that at due time God will bless them. They move from one church to other seeking miracles to be rich and to live luxury life without thinking about the greatest things in heaven.
So called pastors join other medium to do miracles to be rich. Please beware, don’t follow miracles and signs but if you believe in Jesus miracles and signs will follow you.
Miracle is real but seeks God and use only Jesus name in every thing that you do. Walk through the narrow gate to receive the crown.
Please don’t let suffering separate you and your God. Apostle Paul said “I am convinced that either death or life, neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future, nor any powers. Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Roman 8:38). He made a firmed decision that nothing can separate him from Jesus our Lord and what about you. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.Dont stand against the will of God, walk in his plan to win the prize.
Please I want you to test yourself if truly you love the Lord and your neighbor with this verse in the book of 1corithians 13:4 Love is patience, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. it is not rude, it is not self- seeking it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects always trusts, always perseveres.
This is what I want you to do, use your name to replace “it” in the verse. For instead Derrick is patience. Please examine yourself whether you are patience, kind, does not envy etc.Let me remind you that the bible says that the kingdom of God is full of love and without love will you be there?
Please I have a question for you; where will you be when the last bell sound that Jesus is coming? Keep your answer to yourself.

Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
(Lamentations 3:22)
Dear friend! The Bible encourages us to seek God early in the morning. Those who seek God early in the morning receive the grace of God and do well in life.
In the Bible we see that God commanded Moses to get ready and come into His presence early in the morning (Exodus 34:2). Moses sought the Lord early in the morning and God gave him the wisdom and power and authority to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
King David was a person who sought the Lord diligently early in the morning (1 Samuel 17:20; Ps 5:3; 63:1). It was the early morning meditation that gave David the assurance that God was with him and he was able to defeat Goliath. Even after becoming the King of Israel, he sought the Lord diligently early in the morning and never failed to seek Him. Even the prophet Isaiah has said that God awoke him every morning (Isaiah 50:4). All these men were ordinary people but because they sought the Lord early in the morning, they received the wisdom, grace, strength and power to do mighty things for Him.
Beloved! The Lord desires to bless you with His wisdom, power and strength to do mighty things for Him. If you too would meditate on the Word of God and wait in His presence for His guidance, you will find God empowering you with His wisdom, courage and strength and knowledge and the world will be in awe of you.
When you seek the Lord early in the morning, He shall bestow His grace on you. The Bible says, “Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not” (Lamentations 3:22).
As you meditate on the Word, the Holy Spirit will teach you the Word. When the Holy Spirit teaches you, you will surpass the worldly people in knowledge and skill and wisdom. The Lord will use you to do mighty exploits for His glory and make you a blessing to the world.
Time is free, but it's priceless.
You can't own it, but you can use it.
You can't keep it, but you can send it.
Once you've lost it, you can never get it back.
Hebrews 3:6 but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 6:11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end.
Father God we come before you and thank you for the wonderful salvation that is ours through Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit help us to hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end. Help us to us hold fast our confession and draw near with confidence to the throne of grace to find mercy and help in our time of need and may we realize the full assurance of hope we have until the end.
In the name of Jesus we pray.

Hello my dear...I will check it out! but probably later tonight....busy day out of the house with the kids...and then home church tonight until about 10:30pm...
Be blessed in your day....I'm off to start on a lasagne for dinner...then pick up my son from school...
Yesterday the weather here in New Jersey was nice but cloudy and windy, then rainy. Today it's cold. This week sometime we may get snow flurries, the forecast says.
Today I spent time with my wife and now I plan to spend some time in the Word, and also consider "purposeful plans and routines" (as Dallas Willard would say) to make this week at work one where God's will is done, not mine.
I wanted to email the following in relation to your questions, but it was to large for this site's email server to send it. I encourage you to study the outline regarding God's plan and His will.
Title: Understanding the Not So Mysterious Will of God
• God’s will for man is not projected in the future, but exists in the present.
I. God’s will for man is present tense.
..A. We are linear beings that exist only in the present, the moment.
....1. You cannot go back and change one action or one thought that occurred in your past.
....2. You cannot will the outcome of a future event.
......a. You can only act in the present.
........i) You may say that you are preparing for the future therefore your will affected the future.
..........1) No, your training in the present directed by your will can be called on the future to affect the present moment at that time.
..B. God’s expectations for man do not exceed the present.
....1. He expects us to live for Him in the present moment. John 15:10
....2. God listens to those who live for Him in the present moment. John 9:31
II. Understanding the difference in God’s plan and God’s will.
..A. Future vs. Present:
....1. God’s plan projects into the future
....2. God’s will is active in the present.
..B. His plan conforms to His will.
....1. As the future becomes the present it bends to His will.
......a. Some examples of how the plan changed in the present.
........i) Moses and Israel – Numbers 14:10-20
........ii) Hezekiah – 2 Kings 20:4-6
..C. You can only affect your present, not your future or the past.
III. Marks of His will.
..A. It is recognizable in the present. Eph. 1:9
....1. So many people are looking for the will of God for their future.
......a. His will is for the moment. His plan is for the future.
......b. As you follow His will for your life daily the future will come to pass.
....2. The Bible says “Do not worry about tomorrow, for today has enough troubles of its own. Matthew 6:34
....3. Where will you be next year? James 4:13-15
......a. If it is the Lord’s will and it is for today.
........i) Today will affect tomorrow, but not until this day is done. If you do God’s will for today your tomorrow will align with Him as well.
......b. Take note:
........i) I lost a brother when he was 46.
..........1) He went from no apparent problem to passing away in less than 2 weeks.
............1. What was he planning that never came to pass?
........ii) Anita, my wife, lost her sister when her sister was 34.
..........1) She passed away in an auto accident.
............1. What was she planning that never came to pass?
..........2) Both were able to affect the present, but had no control over the future.
............1. Neither do you or me.
........iii) How about 1929 or Oct. 1988 (Black Monday)
..........1) How many people lost their life savings?
..........2) Enron Scandal?
........iv) How about if you lived in Russia at the time of the revolution or in Cuba when Castro took over.
..........1) What were they doing a year before great change came?
........v) How many people have lost everything due to theft or fire?
..B. His will is knowable through spiritual wisdom and knowledge. Col. 1:19
....1. Spiritual wisdom: Application of godly knowledge to daily situations.
....2. Spiritual understanding: Biblical knowledge that enables us to apply spiritual wisdom.
......a. Spiritual wisdom is handicapped when spiritual knowledge is limited.
..C. He will equip you to do His will in the present Heb. 13:21
....1. His gifts are given to each as needed according to His will for your life at that time. Heb. 2:4
......a. He gives you gifts to accomplish your task of living for Him.
......b. He gave you talents.
......c. Gifts vs. Talents
........i) Supernatural empowerment vs. built in ability.
......d. He will supply for all of your needs. Philippians 4:19
........i) Needs are present felt.
..........1) I have no needs in the future, only in the present.
..D. God will give whatever we ask for to align us with His will. 1 John 5:14
....1. God is not bending to our will, but bending us to His.
......a. It is easier to be aligned with God tomorrow when we finish this day aligned with Him.
IV. Conclusion:
..A. We must learn to live in the present.
....1. Not the past and not the future.
..B. We must learn to live for God simply day by day yielded to Him.
....1. You are not looking for lightning, but steady righteous living.
..C. We must seek to enhance our spiritual knowledge so that we may apply it to daily living, spiritual wisdom.
..D. This message does not discount the value of planning for the future.
....1. What it does is state that your plans must be willing to in a moments notice conform to the will of God in the present.
....2. Change is a part of life. We all experience it and are rarely ready for it.
Feel free to ask questions and I have more on the topic if this seems to help.
hi brooke thanks for the add,yes you are right god is wonderful, having faith has changed my life so much.my children have commented on how i have changed.I have such inner peace now.god bless you.
Hi Brooke,
Sorry for not replying to your comment earlier in the week.
Yes, I also enjoy listening to Christian music. I am fortunate that, as a computer programmer, my employer allows us to wear head phones and use our iPods whenever we are just writing programs (as opposed to meetings or answering questions) because they know that it cuts down on distractions and reduces errors. Of course it really has to be music, not sermons or audio books since that would itself be a distraction.
If you are interested in the kind of Christian music I like I can certainly send you a list (or maybe I should do a blog entry about it...I'm the newb here so all advice is accepted).
The weather here this past week was strange. They had said possibility of snow Tuesday and Thursday but the reality ended up being that the area near where I work (55 miles from my home) got hit with snow and ice. Because of the route I take in the morning I got within 5 miles of work in about 55 minutes, then the last 5 miles took 15 minutes. But I was fortunate because many co-workers who lived further West or South took two or three hours to get to work Friday.
No, my wife is not a member. She is my opposite (which is good in many ways). She does very little with a computer, mainly pays bills with Quicken, organizes her music with iTunes and plays Spider Solitaire.
FYI I live in the Southern part of New Jersey, so if you visited Northern New Jersey you saw a much different region (as you said, that is influenced by New York, we are influenced by Philadelphia and my area is more rural and agricultural...not like Kansas, but certainly not like Northern NJ either...granted NJ is the most densely populated US State, but you'd be surprised how beautiful some parts are).
I read your story before sending this comment. I had an extremely unusual and somewhat stressful youth but I can see that yours was beyond the pale until Jesus saved you. I am happy that with His help you have moved into a new and more joyful phase.
If we don't exchange comments before then I hope you and your husband have a blessed Thanksgiving.
You have a very good point. Music can be controversial, so I just included my "Christian Playlist" from iTunes at the end of this comment to you instead of a forum or blog entry. Please forgive the formatting.
I hope your book goes well and that the Holy Spirit uses it to reach and bless many others!
Speaking of books, if you by chance have ever read any C. S. Lewis you might be interested to know I am a big fan of his Christian theology books (Mere Christianity, Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, Miracles, etc.)
Last night I got some bad news. My son is having trouble at his part time job (he is a college student). He is 23 and so his health insurance depends on his job, and finding another job in this economy will be difficult. Also his student loans this semester are proving difficult (probably also due to the economy). Sooooo, if you happen to think of him in your prayers that would be great. But I certainly understand if you don't want to make that commitment, there are literally hundreds of millions of people in need of God's help. Luckily He is more than up to the challenge! (:->)
I hope you have a good weekend and Thanksgiving.

Advice on being a parent? Wow, that's a big question. When I was in college, a long long time ago, the big question was "nature vs. nurture", meaning did kids grow up to become their adult selves more because of their inherent nature or how they were raised, or a combination. I think I believed it was more nurture, but looking back I think it's more nature. I think some kids are just naturally out-going or introspective, some kids have better verbal skills and others have better physical coordination, some kids feel things very deeply and brood on them, others things just roll off their back. And then you add to that the fact that we as parents have a nature which shaped our nurturing of our kids, and the whole thing gets incredibly complicated. Short answer: if I had it to do over again I would spend a lot more time with my kids finding out what makes them tick, as opposed to trying to help them learn things or showing them affection or giving them principles to live by. I know, those are very important things, but I think without a two way understanding between the kid and parent it's like pushing string...even if you have a good reason to do it, it just won't work. I am naturally a person who doesn't like to pry and respects other people's privacy, so that nature of mine worked against being a good parent (I think). Luckily my wife compensated for my short-comings, but I still regret the missed opportunities.
On a less heavy topic, do you happen to use a Mac computer? The only reason I ask is that I recently bought a Mac and downloaded demos of a couple software programs that are meant to help you organize your thoughts (such as for authors). I only needed one for a journal, but I thought I'd mention that they exist, in case you had a Mac and needed something to help with the book you're writing. Purely FYI.
Of course, since I've never used such software my research is probably of limited use.
But for questions in general you might find lifehacker, ask.metafilter and wikihow to be of use to you (they often help me, at least). There's also a trick in Google that you might not know about... entering "speech recognition site:wikihow.com" means to find references to "speech recognition" that occur anywhere in wikihow.com. Of course, you can adapt this trick to do any kind of research limited to any specific domain.
Today I got some good news! I heard through my wife that my son worked out his problems at work, he is still employed and has his health insurance. My son said he wanted to just put it all behind him (which is probably wise) so she didn't get a lot of details, but I thank God for his answering our prayers (and thank you for joining me in this supplication).
My wife and daughter are preparing Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year. I think I heard it was 23 people total including us four. The past few years we had a tradition going where we got together and rented a house for the weekend "down the shore" (NJ slang for one of several towns along the barrier islands, like Wildwood, Sea Isle, Ocean City, etc.) This year with the economy that's not happening. Oh well, it was nice while we were able to.
Nope, never saw Home for the Holidays. But the craziness of the plot you described reminds me a bit of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" which I thought was hilarious. I laugh to myself just thinking about it.
I hope you and your husband have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Father you know the persecution that Brooke is facing. The enemy has caused much sorrow to come to her by inspiring these people to do his bidding. The Lord rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus from any further attack against Brooke and her family.
I thank you Heavenly Father for ministering peace and healing to brook. You are a very present help in time of need. Send your angels to protect your Daughter and her family. In the name of jesus.
I am being made aware that Jesus is coming sooner than many think. Many will not be ready for His return. We need to be ready, wise virgins, keeping oil in our lamps.
Please do keep on praying for the request of mine down below, and I know I can count on you to do it:
Please "WIN the 10/40 WINDOWS" for JESUS CHRIST.
The 10/40 Windows (located between 10 - 40 degrees North of Equator - between West Africa to East Asia) need Missionaries, have no church at all, and there live about 40 percent of the world population. INDONESIA, my country is in the 10-40 windows though we have churches. Please also pray for ISRAEL and all over the world. Let's get on our knees, praying hand in hand with me for their revival. I look forward to the day when the Lord who I kneel to worship will be recognized by all the living and the dead as the One True Lord.
Thank you so very much
I am being made aware that Jesus is coming sooner than many think. Many will not be ready for His return. We need to be ready, wise virgins, keeping oil in our lamps.

Life is definitely
not about work!
Watch your thoughts ; they become words.
Watch your words ; they become actions.
Watch your actions ; they become habits..
Watch your habits; they become character .
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny
So enjoy every day as yours.........

It is also cool that you want open a home called house of peace. In my city a young Jewish couple became born again back in the 1970s and had a home just like your vision Called Beth Shalom(house of peace). I think your vision for youth is right on and I will stand with you in prayer.

Keep your answer to yourself.

glory of God

I hope you and yours also have a very good week.

Hope it helps.
Lord Bless,
LT

Congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family!
Purely FYI.
God bless.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with speech recognition programs. I did a little research for you at a few sites I have a good opinion of:
http://lifehacker.com/tag/speech-recognition/
http://ask.metafilter.com/100448/Speech-Recognition-and-Recording-Software
http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Voice-Recognition-Software
Best wishes.
