I'm here to...
Fellowship with others and get answers to some of my Biblical questions. Learn more about the Bible to share faith with others.
Interests:
I would like to learn how to give my testimonial to others but I don't know how to "break the ice" when talking about God and what He has done for me.

I live alone with my cat, Jessie, whom I love dearly. I enjoy the simple things in life like wild flowers, sunshine, children's laughter, animals playing, cool breezes.
I'm passionate about...
Learning all I can about Jesus and my walk of faith. Learning to talk/share the Bible with others.
Finding out what God's purpose for my life is.
Listening to & treating others kindly.
My story with God
I learned about God at an early age but did not attend church services on a regular basis. Through the years I realized what a big sinner I had become. I never forgot about God & praying & thanking Him for getting me through some really tough times. I still have a hard time forgiving myself for some of the sins I have committed.

Over the past few years I have been physically unable to attend church services but I do read my Bible daily. I have read the New Testiment different ways, ie writing notes, questions, favorite verses, etc. This time I am reading a chapter a day and meditating on it and asking God what He is trying to get across to me. I seem to be learning much more this way. I am loving God/Jesus more everyday. And I have learned that Jesus loves ME, He cares about what is going on with ME, and He doesn't want me live my life full of anxiety.

I am now yearning for the Word; soaking up everything I can. I feel like Helen Keller when the light bulb finally clicked - I am aggressively listening and learning anything & everything God wants me to understand. I am still patiently waiting for Him to reveal to me what His plan is for my life.

I hope to someday be able to share the Bible with others who don't know Jesus, but I don't know where to begin.
Other stuff about me:
I am retired from the USNavy - loved my career as a Bio-Medical Photographer. I live alone with my cat, Jessie. I have no living relatives. My mother & father divorced when I was 6yrs old and both are deceased. I lost my only brother & sister both to suicide. I am not in good health; facing another spinal surgery next month. I watch Charles Stanley (Baptist minister from Atlanta, GA) on weekends. I am really looking forward to getting to know/share/learn with others on this web site. Basically I am a happy, loving, caring, sharing person who loves God's furry creatures.

WHY WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT
Jesus promised the disciples that they will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. So it came to Passed that the Holy Spirit came upon them as He promised in the book of acts 2:4. it is also written in the book of Acts 2:38 to 39( quoting verse 39, the promise is for you ,your children and for all who are far off______ for all whom the Lord God will call).Meaning that every Christian need the Holy Spirit for specific task. The bible says we should not be drunkard but we must be filled with the holy Spirit. You can read that in the book of Ephesians 5:18.Why we must not be drunkard? The answer is simple, the Holy Spirit is more powerful than alcoholic drink. He can do more for us than alcoholic spirit Let us look at the things the Holy Spirit can do for us.

The Holy Ghost always makes us to be committed. When truly the Holy Ghost is in you, you will devote everything about you to the Lord Jesus. You will give your whole life to Christ. That is why the bible says that the life that we Christians lived, it is no more we that lived but Jesus lived in us. Christians do not need alcoholic drink just as the people of the world need it to be committed to what ever they do. I dont know whether you have seen a drunkard before but let me tell you, they are committed to alcoholic drinks. If they wake up in the morning, the first thing they think of is where they can get some drink to take. They put all their hope on drinking alcohol. So you see, a good Christian have to put his or she hope in Christ Jesus every time. Remember that what is in you is greater than alcohol. If you have been to Africa, you would have known the real drunkard. They are very committed. We have to do more than these worldly people. We must be committed to our Lord Jesus Christ.

When one is full of the Holy Spirit, HE NEVER GETS WORRY ABOUT THINGS OF THIS WORLD. Just ask the bible says in the book of Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Learn how to be happy with what you have, God knows what is good for you and at the right time he will provide. The Holy Spirit that is in you will help you not to border about things that perish. Let me briefly tell you something about my life since my infancy. I was a child when my father divorce my mother because of the faith, but my mother never gives up. We passed through a lot of problems but my mother hold firm to the faith. Sometimes what to eat was a problem for us. As the day went on, things started to change through the Holy Spirit. When I grown up, I still face difficulty, just us my mother taught me, I never get worry. I know it shall be well with me one day. I always comfort myself that after all I have something special within me that can change my situation.

So to be frank, worldly people like drunkard never get worry. All that they think about is their drink and how they can get access to one before they go to sleep. They dont border about the clothes that they put on. In Africa, drunkards can wear the same cloth for more than one month and they never get worry. Some so called Christian sometimes, say today I dont have new panties so I can not go to church. When the Holy Spirit is in you, you will never bother. What ever you have, you will only press it well and wear it to church. Truly our God is pure and it is not good to wear filthy clothes to church. All the time, be happy about what you have.

The Holy Spirit brings unity among brethren. We are one body and we have one spirit that controls us. This brings about the love that the Lord expects from us for each other. Allowing ourselves to be fill with the Holy Spirit, brings unity and love ( real love and unity).on the other side, drunkards are the most united people of the world. When one drunkard get drinks, he or she invite the rest of them to partake, even though they fight and quarrel, they do things together. How much more we that have the Holy Spirit, we do more than them because we have the true spirit. When the Holy Ghost came upon the first Disciples of Christ, they do almost everything together.

When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be GENEROUS (someone that gives freely). If we read our bible well, peter was disgrace at the gate of beautiful when the crippled beggar as him for money (even though, the name of Jesus was glorified through the Holy Spirit). Although the crippled was healed, there was nothing in Peters pocket. So when he came to the congregation, the Holy Ghost changed the situation so that no needy person was found among them again. When He is upon you, you can easily give. People find it difficult to give or help the needy ones because the Holy Spirit is not in them. If you come to Africa or go to other continents, you will know how people need help (I mean suffering, we that go to the villages we see things for ourselves).

DRUNKARDS always give. They can give more than necessary and why cant we that are filled with the Holy Spirit not give. Let HIM control youre given.

When the Holy Spirit is upon you, you will be BOLD just as HE came upon peter and Peter became boldly. You can read that in the book of Acts 2:38, drunkards are always bold. Let me assure that most people drink because they want to be bold but we Christian dont need physical drink to be bold, the Holy Spirit is more than alcoholic drink. HE makes us bold in every area.

You will always have a SOUND MIND when HE is upon you. Dont have negative taught about people. The Holy Spirit let us into all truth. It makes us free within our bodies. In Africa here, drunkards are free they only concentrate on their drinks. We Christians have to talk about Jesus every day, because that is the greatest commission the LORD has instructed us.

When the Holy Spirit is upon someone, he or she can takes hot staff (face difficult problems).Never run from battle field because what is in him or her is greater than what is in the world. He or She shall surely over come. Things that are impossible for people will be possible for you. As for Drunkards, people that they can not beat them they claim that they will beat them, How much more we that have the power above all powers. Remember David and Goliath.

The Holy Spirit helps us to be LOYALTY, to become someone who always gives support or defend the faith. Drunkard are always support those that provide them with drinks. We Christian have to support our faith where ever we are and preach the word of God.

The holy spirit help us to walk with faith and we dont fear danger, all that we know is that it came by itself and it shall go but itself. Forward ever, backwards never. Drunkards also walk by faith, whether there is whole or not they find their way home. What about us? We do more than them.

The Holy Spirit will help you NEVER TO GIVE UP. In all situations you will stand firm. DRUNKARDS are troublesome and they never give up. We are always in the high spirit to face every problem that comes Christians are not trouble some.

To be simple and precise, without the holy ghost one can not enter into the kingdom God: so we need HIM to be; COMMITED, NEVER WORRY ABOUT THINGS OF THIS WORLD, TO GIVE GENEROULY,TO BE BOLD,TO HAVE SOUND MIND, TO FACE EVERY DIFFICULTY THAT COMES OUR WAYS,TO BE LOYALTY TO OUR LORD,TO WALK BY FAITH AND SO THAT WE CAN NEVER GIVE UP.

    Janice,
We have a lot in common, besides loving the Lord, I mean. I'm a cat person, but I'm married to a dog person for 34 years. (We have 2 cats, only!) Both our parents were elderly & are deceased now. We have 3 children & 4 grandchilren. They all live pretty far away. I think Charles Stanley is a great bible teacher. I would be honored to be your friend & pray for you. I don't drive. I live in the middle of the desert & I don't get out much, except when I go to church. My dad & brother-in-law were navy. My daughter went to Irac for 9 mo. when she joined the army & this war broke out. (Boy, is that one a LONG story!) I love the Word of God & sharing it with others. I'm not as shy on-line as when meeting strangers in person. Well, I've probably said enough to overwhelm you now, ha, ha! Be blessed sister!

    Janice,
Hi! It took me a while to learn how to navigate too. If I want to see what people are discussing & add my comments, I either go to the main page or forum at the top of my page. I've gone to groups & joined a few, I figured out there are like 80 different groups! Pages of them. Below your comment box it says view thread. That lets you see what the person you are replying to, wrote last. It took me a while before I noticed that.
I like Joyce Myers! I like her books more than her preaching, but I don't watch T.V. much anymore. I went thru her study on 'Battlefield of the Mind' 4 times. It's so good! The last 2 times through, I helped my friend teach it to a group of woman she knew who were recovery drug addicts & alcoholics. I didn't actually teach, I just added comments to keep the ball rolling & help her stay on track. I learned a lot. I'm sorry you're so confined, but I know what you mean about God using that time to draw you closer & get you ready for things in the future. I know your hunger for the Word of God is preparing you also. You have a lot in you to share. I'm so thankful for His overcoming Holy Spirit that lives in us! Be blessed my sister!

Right next to this comment box, to the right, is a instant messanger. You can chat with friends on-line, if you like, It even shows your friend's pictures and if there is a green dot by their picture that means they are curently on-line. There is also an inbox for writing messages that may be too long or personal to add to their page. I can tell you are a very smart lady, I'm just trying to make the process of figureing things out shorter for you than it was for me! LOL!
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
To ask a Bible question; click on Forum at the top of the page, scroll down, click on the catagogy of Bible & click on start new discussion in the upper right corner. OR, you can go to & join one of the specialty Groups and start a discusstion there.
You've heard why it is that cats are smarter than dogs? Dogs have master's, cats have STAFF! (The service at this hotel isn't all that great, tho. Ha,ha!)
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Jan,
About the picture? On your page, beneath your current picture it says, "My photo". Click on that & it will ask you where or what file folder you want to get your pic from. That picture with your cat may have been too large, but I think you can 'crop' it. My husband, Alan & my friend, Jeanie both do this better than I do. They can help you, if I can't. I thought maybe your picture was making some kind of 'spiritual' statement! LOL! (Face to face with God, or something.)
My cats take up so much room on the bed when it's hot! Their names are Jumper & Fatty. (descriptive.) My jumper is a cuddle-bug. Fatty is Alan's cat & just as pompous as 'Garfield'! He lays 'belly-up' wherever I want to walk! Since I'm getting older & live in a small space, this is becoming quite a challenge!
You have a wonderful afternoon & evening!
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
Well, I've had my learner's permit multiple times & let it expire. In our 34 yrs. of marriage we have rarely had more than one car at a time. I had one accident when my kids were small & never got back on the 'horse'. My husband is going back to school on-line, since he hasn't had work for awhile. I need new eye glasses...I'm 52. (I'd have to really 'gear up' at this point.) It can still happen. We have no health insurance, so I don't push myself if I don't feel good. You're not being nosey at all. We all need to be challenged to re-evaluate how we live our lives. I don't mind at all! Have you had back surgery already once? I've heard the techniques are much better now than 20 or 30 years ago. I will pray for you. Living with that pain must be awful. Kitties are good company, no matter what the 'dog' people say!
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Jan,
You are right of corse, I need to find a way or ask God to make a way for me to get that driver's license. I try not to thik how 'up a creek' I would be, if anything happened to my husband, (who has incredible survival skills!) Thank you for your friendship & encouragement.
It must have been hard for such an independant woman, as yourself to go through that hard time of needing complete care! Praise God for your healing! If you have the surgery, please be patient to see all the rehibilitation through! We are getting older, sad to say & healing takes more time. I know God can do another miracle, but if He chooses to use doctors, that's a miracle too!
What kind of cat is Jesse? Mine are gray & fluffy, (fur up the nose) kind, ha, ha! Just reg. housecats, nothing special, except to me. It's so nice to have new friends, that we can pray for one another! Have a lovely evening!!

    Janice,

Thanks for filling us in on what's happening in your life. Sounds like you've had your share of struggles, but God is giving you joy in life. We praise Him for that!

You asked about your profile photo...

The reason why only part of your photo is appearing is that it probably not square. The other reason is that it is probably too large.

First, you will need to use some photo editing software to crop your picture into a square. Next, use the photo editing software to reduce the size of your picture to 220 pixels x 220 pixels. Remember to save the original of your photo under a different name so you will not loose the original. If you don't know how to do this, ask around here for a friend who will do it for you or take the time to learn. Digital photo editing is a good skill to acquire. Have a great day in the Lord!
  • AAG Netguy

Hi Janice! Actually, in order for you to upload it to this site, it had to be in a digital file format, so even though it is originally from 35mm film, it is now a .jpeg or some other kind of digital computer file and you can manipulate it with digital editing software.

Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to do anything to your profile like delete your profile picture. You can delete or change your profile picture. For instructions visit this forum "Adding or Changing your Profile Avatar or Photo".

    Hope this helps!

hiya janice, ive been smoking since i was 13 and am now 37, so quite a long time! all i know from quitting alcohol is one day at a time, that is the most important thing to remember as we know it says God's mercies are new every morning. so its just thanking Him for getting us through today and asking Him for strength tomorrow, its six months since i last drank and its definately nothing that ive done, its all glory to God, one day at a time. Love and blessings, lynne.

How are you my friend? I didn't hear, are you going to have the surgery? If so, when? How are things going? How's your sweet little kitty? My computer got a bad virus & is history! I'm on my hubby's laptop. Be blessed!

If you woke up this morning
    with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won't survive the week.

    If you have never experienced
    the danger of battle,
    the loneliness of imprisonment,
    the agony of torture or
    the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
    around the world.

If you can attend a church meeting
    without fear of harassment,
    arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare, especially in this World
    today.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
    but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
    offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
    you may never even know.

How are you my friend? How are things going with you?
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
Of corse I didn't forget you! I will pray. I know this isn't a 'minor' surgery & that it's crucial to your quality of life that it go well. Unfeeling doctors are a real 'pet peave' of mine! I know they see lots of people, but if they don't have a little 'bedside manner', they should go into plumbling or something.
My cat, Jumper tries to pull that 'let's go to bed now' game with me, (especially if he's cold.) but I'm not THAT ready to be his 'staff'! LOL! If I were single, these two cats would have me wrapped around their little paws! I have been known to give them the last can or tuna or salmon, when we could have used it ourselves, but hey, they're cats, they won't eat crackers & peanut butter! I'm sorry you are in so much pain, that stinks! Love & prayers, Debbie
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
How are you doing today, my friend?
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
I will be praying. Our church has started a fast, leading up to the elections, so I'll be fasting also. I know you arn't suppose to talk about it when you fast, but I thought it might make you feel a little more confident in being prayed for! I have a Prayer meeting every Thurs. morning with a few gals also. God bless you sister & send you great encouragement from the throne of grace!
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
So, now I'm confused. Is your surgery this week or has it been postponed untill after the 1 st of the year? Your last discussion said 1/7/08. I know that was a mistake. I know you are in a lot of pain. I'm sorry for not writing down the date, if you gave it to me. God bless & touch you mightily my dear.
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Janice,
i'm glad your surgery went well. I'm sorry you are still in pain. Are you taking the pain meds according to directions? If you wait too long between doses, your body doesn't heal as fast because you are so tense & stressed & tight from the pain. We got to Ark. just before Thanksgiving. 1500 miles, then a lot of situations to cope with that were new & challengeing. I'm glad's grace is enough. The grandkids are sweet, but they are adjusting to us as well. I bet your kitty missed you while you were in the hospital. I hope & pray that you will be on your feet soon & able to go to church & worship! I hadn'r forgotten you, we were just on the road from the 20th until the day before Thanksgiving.
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

Wow, I'm glad your doctor caught the pneumonia! That could have been bad! Our little kittys are so loyal & such a comfort, arn't they? Mine have been a little cold & neglected. I've been so busy with the kids & adjusting to the new location & all, but they snuggle up with me at night. Hope you are staying warm & have a nice Christmas! God bless you my friend!
  • Deborah Sue Schenfeld

    Hi Janice,
Is the pain getting any less? My kitty, Jumper is having an attitute right now because i'm typing, instead of coming to bed to keep him warm! He's bouncing off the walls! Wow! That's a long time to have a boyfriend! LOL! I hope you & Jesse have a cozy, blessed Christmas anyway. The community center here, sent some people out with boxes of food & toys for the kids to tell us 'welcome' to the neighborhood & wish us a Merry Christmas! God is good & it's nice to know there are good people here. I was really missing my friends in Ca. They got 3 foot of snow! (And they can have it! Brrr!) God bless you my dear!

I am being made aware that Jesus is coming sooner than many think. Many will not be ready for His return. We need to be ready, wise virgins, keeping oil in our lamps.

Please do keep on praying for the request of mine down below, and I know I can count on you to do it:

Please "WIN the 10/40 WINDOWS" for JESUS CHRIST.
The 10/40 Windows (located between 10 - 40 degrees North of Equator - between West Africa to East Asia) need Missionaries, have no church at all, and there live about 40 percent of the world population. INDONESIA, my country is in the 10-40 windows though we have churches. Please also pray for ISRAEL and all over the world. Let's get on our knees, praying hand in hand with me for their revival. I look forward to the day when the Lord who I kneel to worship will be recognized by all the living and the dead as the One True Lord.
    Thank you so very much
