FROM THE FULLNESS OF HIS GRACE WE HAVE ALL
    RECEIVED ONE BLESSING AFTER ANOTHER.
    ( JOHN 1:16 *NIV )

Always remember to count our blessings each day, and to
thank God for them! For no matter what we have, when we
look around us, we find others who have less! So never feel
sorry for ourself, instead start counting our blessings, for that
    should cheer u up indeed.

Now we know that when things disappoint us, we are sad and
often depressed. However it is written that we should: BE
JOYFUL ALWAYS; PRAY CONTINUALLY; GIVE THANKS IN
ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, FOR THIS IS GOD'S WILL FOR YOU
    IN JESUS CHRIST. ( 1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18 )

Therefore, never feel that God doesn't hear our prayers
because a prayer isn't answered the way we want, or something
goes wrong in our life. For our Heavenly Father always knows
what is best for us, and: HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU NOR
    FORSAKE YOU. ( DEUTERONOMY 31:6 )

So my friend, remember to always: GIVE THANKS TO THE
LORD, CALL ON HIS NAME; MAKE KNOWN AMONG THE
NATIONS WHAT HE HAS DONE for you!
    ( 1 CHRONICLES 16:8 )

In closing, MAY THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST, AND THE LOVE OF GOD, AND THE
FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BE WITH YOU ALL,
    now and always! Amen! ( 2 CORINTHIANS 13:14 )

    OnlyJesus,
Thank you so much for your encouragement. It was very good! Yes, the Lord has been teaching us to live simply & be content with what we have, to share, give generously of our time & whatever we have.
The part I left out about in my testemony was that my mother became an alcoholic after my father died when I was 7 yrs. old. Yes, getting the next drink, to numb her grief was all she thought about. I would often climb up and get the bottles, dump 1/2 down the sink & fill it with water. I needed my mother to come out of it long enough to talk to me.
When I accepted Christ I found out what it was to be loved and to be a part of God's big family! When i was 14, I had a serious horse-back riding accident. I was in a coma for 9 days. The doctor's told my mother if I ever regained concousness, I would be brain-damaged & would never walk or talk again! The doctor's did not count on the power of God! He healed me & I was up walking in a few days. My mother came back to Christ & gave up the alcohol! She never had another drink in her life & she lived to be 87!
I have been filled with the Holy Spirit & I believe that is so important to have overcoming joy, contentment & power to be an overcomer!
I have been to So. Africa & I saw what you speak of. The extreme povety, the joblessness, the hopelessness of so many...it breaks my heart. I pray for Africa. I'm sure those conditions are not just in So. Africa, but many places!
I find the time difference between our countries very interesting. I call Africa Tomorrowland! When we are just going to bed here, over there you are into your afternoon of the next day! It amazes me!
I really appriciate this AAG site. It's so wonderful to be able to share the love of God, pray for & encourage one another! Thank you for your kind offer of friendship, I accept! I pray that Our Heavenly Father will bless you this day & strengthen you in whatever you struggle with today! Deborah

Thank you for your comments and encouraging e-mail.
It has led me to try and put into practice what Paul is talking about in 2nd corinthians 10:3

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Hi Brother, It is so true that the Holy Spirit in our lives is better than any kind of feeling we could get from drugs or alcohol. That scripture you mentioned; Don't be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit. In the original language it says it like this; Be not drunk with wine but be you continually being filled or controlled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit baptizes us. The word baptize means to dip in a dye. When we are baptized by the Holy Spirit we are changed. Holy Spirit is our comforter, our counselor, our teacher, the one who guides us into all truth. Jesus made a way for us to go to Heaven and be reconciled to God. The Holy Spirit helps us to live victorious in this life. in this life.
    In the love of Jesus.

    Dearest Onlyjesus
I am overwhelmed by your invitation to be your friend! God bless you and thank you so much for the honour.

I will pray for you and ask you to pray for me please. I am so happy to tell you that although we are having an attack from Satan presently in Heidelberg where I live we are simultaneously experiencing a REVIVAL. So it is the Evil Force fighting against the Righteous One... We know who is the strongest! Amen and Praise His Holy name.

I am taking the liberty of sending something I have worked on after "HOW I DEPICT JESUS CHRIST" and implore you to please correct me if you wish as I am a "novice" and I know that I can learn a lot from my friends:
    SANCTIFICATION AND HOLINESS

Many times during my seventy-two years upon this earth, I've heard the question, sometimes asked cynically: "If God is so good, why does He let bad things happen, to those He professes to love?" In order to understand that question, let's travel back in time to Gen 3:16-19, and listen in as God addressed the disobedience of Adam and Eve:

"To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."

Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field.

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.""

No, God doesn't promise a Christian a pain-free, trouble-free, disease-free, worry-free life, and after reaching a ripe old age, you will just quietly retire to your grave, to await "Jesus' returning"(1 Thes 4:16) for you. If that were the case, then He surely let the great individuals in Scripture down. Read your Bible, and observe how most of them suffered; are you better than them? Remember, everyone Jesus healed, eventually died, and so will you!

Ever since the fall of man, life has always included hardship. Notwithstanding, even though trials are painful, understanding your Heavenly Father's purpose, can bring you joy and belief. However, in order to comprehend that fact, you must understand that God makes it very clear in His Word, that your suffering is meaningful.

Primarily, your Father is molding you, as His "child,"(John 1:2) to be like Him. Remember that "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Therefore, "for whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren."(Rom 8:28,29)
You will recall that I pointed out in my comment on HOW I DEPICT JESUS that God is sometimes tough with us because He loves us. He is not being "abusive". I compared this to an athlete and his trainer... (doing what is good for success)... and we are running a race (as Paul described it)Phil. 3:12-21
12 Not that I have already attained this – that is, I have not already been perfected – but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single-minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead, 14 with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore let those of us who are "perfect" embrace this point of view. If you think otherwise, God will reveal to you the error of...

Gary Player, one of the most successful international golfers of all time, lost count of how many times someone said to him, "I'd give anything if I could hit a golf ball like you." After one particularly grueling day on the links, Player couldn't resist correcting the person, "No, you wouldn't. You'd give anything to hit a golf ball like me, if it were easy." Player then listed the things one would have to do in order to achieve his level of play: "You've got to get up at five o'clock in the morning, go out and hit a thousand golf balls, walk up to the club house to put a bandage on your hand where it started bleeding, then go and hit another thousand golf balls. That's what it takes to hit a golf ball like me."

When anyone is newly saved, they still require some "finishing touches (smoothing the rough edges)." That's why, in 1 Tim 3:6, God's Word addresses those desiring to go into the ministry, and cautions that they can't be an amateur, " lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil."

The journey ahead, called sanctification, involves the process of becoming holy, and few things build character like sorrow and pain. Unfortunately, people rarely mature during pleasant times. Instead, pain brings impurities to the surface and forces people to see the reality of their lives.

You may have heard someone stand up in church and proclaim, "I'm saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Spirit." I regret if I am again treading on toes ...this is not the intention but what we fail to understand is that sanctification is a process, and the moment one stands up and broadcasts that they've met all God's standards, they prove that they haven't! They're proving that they're an "amateur!" (Please do forgive me if I am wrong - as this is my humble opinion and I stand to be corrected)...Yes, one definition of "sanctification" is "being set aside for a particular purpose," but it's God who does the "setting aside,"(making holy) not you reaching a point of perfection! I am so cautious about proclaiming my "holiness" as I know myself and I "search my heart" and every day find imperfection and sin! I am following Paul's advice and I am striving for perfection... And I think that this will be a "forever" effort.

Another reason our Father allows trials, is to test our faith, as His "child." Bear in mind that God knows in advance, how you'll respond to your various trials, so He doesn't need that information for Himself, but you do! Why? Because faith that has been tested, is much more reliable and stronger, than untested faith!

Also, your Heavenly Father allows hardship in your life, in order to reveal His character, love, and power. And it's during life's storms, that people who cling to their heavenly Father, will find Him trustworthy and real. And the next time a difficulty arises, we will remember His faithfulness during their previous trial, and will understand that we have full security in God.
I realize that there's a good possibility that you don't want to suffer, nevertheless, as you experience sorrow, it will mature you as a believer. Yes, you may learn a lot from books, and other people's experiences, nonetheless, most of my growth has occurred during trials. So, when problems come your way, and sorrow seems ready to destroy you, thank your Father, for His purpose in your suffering.

    Hebrews 12:6 >>

"For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts."

I give below a small explanation that I have found useful in explaining HOLY and SANCTIFIED:

"Set apart - a chosen vessel to the King of kings,

Set apart - for ever severed from all earthly things.

Set apart - to bear the fragrance of His blessed name

And with Him to share the sufferings of a Cross of shame.

Set apart - with Him to suffer o'er a world undone,

And to stand in fiercest conflict 'till the fight be won.

Set apart - an earthen vessel, empty, weak and small,

Yet the treasure that it beareth: Christ the Lord of all!"

    (Freda Hanbury Allen)

I send this with fond love and many blessings to all my Christ Following friends...
