My story with God
I've gave my life to the Lord over 30 years ago. There have been times when I tried to get back on the throne so it isn't always a smooth and straight ahead journey. My life changed fairly drastically (again) about 18 months ago:

In September of 2006 I awoke one morning at two o'clock. Partially asleep, I had the feeling that I had experienced a dream or else heard a small still voice tell me to write a book about evolution, a topic I knew almost nothing about. In the morning when I awoke fully, the experience was still vivid in my memory banks. I asked the Lord if he had indeed asked me to write a book about Evolution. That small still voice said - "And when you're done with that, I want you to go after Harry Potter and the sexual revolution." Sounded like a yes to me.
My personal dreams of becoming a writer had been abandoned years ago. Despite my fear of failure and my ignorance concerning the subject matter (I know you are supposed to write about what you know best), I decided to pursue the matter. If God had really spoken to me, I was not going to drag my feet and not even check it out. After researching one book dealing with evolution, I knew that I had been called to battle. Despite holding down a full time job, I threw myself into the effort and did more research as I begin to weave a foundation around a love story. Most of the first section of the book is typical of a young adult romance novel. Then I threw enough facts into the story to present most of the basic and pertinent information dealing with the flaws of Darwinism and the controversy surrounding it. I tried to balance the science lesson with a equal doses of humor, romance, and scripture.
Other stuff about me:
I have written seven novels so far and have formed my own company - Sword of the Spirit Publishing to produce them for public consumption. I try not to write fluffy little stories with entertainment value but rather edifying works that entertain, educate, and encourage.

Hi Donald! Thank you for adding me to your friends list. I hope to share and pray about our life experiences and how the Lord has manifested Himself in our lives. God bless you my brother!

Isn't that just like the Lord calling someone to do something that they feel they are not the best man for the job, like Moses, Elijah,Gidian, David,Etc. Yup sounds like this a God thing. Randall Niles and the All about God.com and Answers in genisis are good resources. I to have set my hand at writing. My topic is on church abuse. I was in an authoritarian abusive church for 12 years and it has taken me 10 years to recover from it. I might start a forum on this sight to see what happens . Have a God blessed day.

Thanks Don for the encouragement. It has been a roller coaster ride, for sure. You are working on 7 books?! How is that possible? The one I just finished was obsessive and all consuming. God bless your fortitude.
  • Pastor Bob B

Wonderful, i can't wait to read it. I am sur it will be a great blessing to the Body of Christ. I pray that God will use it to bring many to salvation.

    Hey Don,

What a great journey toward writing words that matter. I sometimes believe that I may be drawn in a somewhat similar direction. But for now, I believe I am growing in understanding till the timing is right for God's purpose.

May God bless your works and your life.

    Don,

I got this excellent thread from Ron Payne. I am constantly working with the "smart professors"...

Columnist George Caylor once interviewed a molecular biologist for an article entitled "The Biologist," that ran on February 17, 2000, in The Ledger (Lynchburg, VA), and is in part reprinted here as a conversation between "G: (Caylor) and "J" (the scientist). We joint the piece in the middle of a discussion about the complexity of human code.

G: "Do you believe that the information evolved?"
J: "George, nobody I know in my profession believes it evolved. It was engineered by genius beyond genius, and such information could not have been written any other way. The paper and ink did not write the book! Knowing what we know, it is ridiculous to think otherwise."
G: "Have you ever stated that in a public lecture, or in any public writings?"
J: "No, I just say it evolved. To be a molecular biologist requires one to hold onto two insanities at all times. One, it would be insane to believe in evolution when you can see the truth for yourself. Two, it would be insane to say you don't believe evolution. All government work, research grants, papers, big college lectures—everything would stop. I'd be out of a job, or relegated to the outer fringes where I couldn't earn a decent living.
G: I hate to say it, but that sounds intellectually dishonest.
J: The work I do in genetic research is honorable. We will find the cures to many of mankind's worst diseases. But in the meantime, we have to live with the elephant in the living room.
    G: What elephant?
G: Creation design. It's like an elephant in the living room. It moves around, takes up space, loudly trumpets, bumps into us, knocks things over, eats a ton of hay, and smells like an elephant. And yet we have to swear it isn't there!

    What do you think?

Thank you, Don for putting me on your list of friends. To have the living relationship with the Lord is a roller coaster experience. As long as you reside in the flesh even though you are a child of God the battle from your old adam nature and satan and the world will still be there. Now though the Holy Spirit within you will grant you strength and the desire to withstand when you do fall. May the Lord continue to bless you in your writing career.

Hi Donald...I saw that you are interested in/and are writing a book. The Lord has been tapping at me also to write. I have written several articles for the newspaper and people ask me have I written any books...so I do feel the Lord is trying to tell me something, but like you I am afraid of failure and what to write about....He hasn't told me that yet. He will tell me to get out of bed...in the wee morning hours and write. I have asked Him...are you sure you want me to get out of bed and write...and He says YES...that is when I've written the articles for the paper. I would love to read your book...if or when finished. Thanks for adding me as a friend in Christ.
  • Donna

I don't use their characters, but I keep using their settings and terminology. I guess I'm still living out my dearest childhood dream.
