    Colossians 3 >>
    New American Standard Bible

    Put On the New Self

1Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

5Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. 6For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, 7and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them. 8But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, 10and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— 11a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.

12So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Psalm 121:8 (NIV). The LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore....... Thoughts on This Verse... Does it matter to anyone that I'm here? Does anyone notice when I'm gone? Does anybody care if I make it home or never leave the house? The answers:''Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!'' The LORD, the Savior of Israel and the Father of Jesus knows all about us and our comings and goings. He will watch over us, now and forevermore.

God’s Recipe for Answered Prayer God really, really wants to answer your prayers. That’s why the Bible contains a recipe for effective prayer. Imagine baking bread. The result rides on the right balance of water to flour. That’s how it is with prayer. Your desire is the water, and God’s will is the flour. The proper combination creates the perfect recipe for answered prayer.

First Add Water What do you want in life? Helping people, creating art, building a family? God has put inside of you unique desires that will build His kingdom and bring you fulfillment. He wants you to get in touch with them so He can lead you in your purpose. How do you get in touch with your desires? Ask God to show you what He made you for. The Bible promises, “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

Next Add Flour The second ingredient is God’s will for your life. Here’s an equation to help you figure out what that is: God’s Word=God’s Will. God wrote the Bible so you could know about His plans and desires. The more you read, the more you will know God’s will. You can wake up each morning and learn a little bit more about His will for you that day by reading the Bible. It’s exciting and it will give you peace!

Now Mix Have you ever had mushy bread? Too much water, not enough flour. That’s what happens when you come to God with only your own concerns in mind, and never His. If you’re ever in doubt, add more flour. That’s what Jesus did when He was facing crucifixion. His desire, naturally, was to not be crucified, but He added more flour: “Father, if You are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from Me. Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine" (Luke 22:42).

Let’s Get Cooking God wants to give you a great-tasting loaf of bread. So this week, let’s practice mixing His ingredients: your desires plus His will. But keep in mind: what you want right now may not be quite as good as what God has in store for you. For example, I used to want to be a hairdresser, but then I realized that God had an even better plan. He says to you today, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). Ask Him this week to show you your true desires and His will for you. Then start to pray…

So this week, let’s pray together that:

    • We would get in touch with our true heart’s desires

    • We would read the Bible and hear God speaking to us

  • Liz

Have you ever said "Our Father..." on Sunday, then spent the rest of the week living like an orphan? It's a common self-deception. We say we believe something, then prove by our actions that we don't. And even though we're sons and daughters of the King, we can wander through our days like homeless people. Listen saints, GOD NEVER MADE A PROMISE THAT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

just received this just had to share

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV). Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God....... Thoughts on This Verse... We are comforted because we are heartbroken. We are comforted because we need a blessing. We are comforted because God loves us. We are comforted to comfort others. While each of the above statements is true, the last is the most crucial one. There is something about comfort that cannot be fully realized until it is shared with someone else. It is that final step in the healing process of grief, disappointment, hurt, and loss. Until we share the comfort we have received, until we pass it on to another, our comfort is weak and shallow and limited. Comfort, pass it on!

    Today's Bible Verse:

    2 Chronicles 20:12
... For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you. (ESV)

Today's Inspiring Thought: Our Eyes Are On You

When you face a giant problemand you don't know what to do, just like Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah here in 2 Chronicles 20:12, the best thing to do is focus your eyes on the Lord. They ended up winning the victory over this vast army that stood against them simply by giving thanks and singing praises to the Lord. God fought the battle for them, causing their enemies to self-destruct.

Family I just love this and want to share it this morning ,as my SPIRIT is so thankful to our Heavenly Father through his son ,Jesus who is our big brother and high priest,Ephesians 1:15-23  15For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints, 16do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; 17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

    LOVE YOU FAMILY,

14For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

20Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.Ephesians 3:14-21

So many things are about to happen!  So many Blessings are starting and will continue, In Jesus Holy Name.  The attacks have grown because, the enemy knows.  It wants as many as it can persuade, to give up.  Stand, stand, stand as  you never have before.  Rejoice, and know the Salvation of the Lord is at hand.  Many have Prayed, many are giving up, don't Please stay the course.  Let go of fear, let go of doubt, it only has the power that you give it.  When it "appears" the darkness, know that dawn has begun to break.  The Joy of the Lord is our Strength.  He is Faithful to His Word.  Accept no less then, God's very best for you.  The enemy would mock you, and want you to think it is foolish to Believe.  The Glory of the Lord, is Love, Hope, and Grace.  Your Father; Your Dad, Big Brother and the Spirit of the Lord want you to see the Fruit of your Prayers.  Hold on to His Word; Hold on to His Promises, believe and know that God wants only the very best for you.  You have Not been forgotten.  Your Prayers have been heard, let your Praise be louder then any other sound you make.  Let His Praise be the strongest thoughts you have.  Doubt is not the truth.  Doubt in God's Word are Lie's, they are Lie's, since they are Lie's make the choice Not to believe them.  Mark these words, know that the Love Jesus has for you is more real, more Powerful, then any negative thought the enemy is trying to get you to believe.  You are Loved by the Creator, No Love is stronger then that Love.  Rejoice, Rejoice, and again I say Rejoice.

    Today's Bible Verse:

    James 5:19–20
My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. (ESV)

Today's Inspiring Thought: Bring Back a Sinner

Jamesis speaking to Christians when he says "my brothers." This verse makes it plain that sometimes believers stumble and get off track. The Bible says in Hebrews 3:12-13 that we ought to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ daily so that no one turns away from the living God.

If you see a fellow Christian backsliding, or drifting away from the Lord, make every effort to reach out a hand of fellowship. And stay on the alert yourself. Each and every one of us is capable of wandering from the truth.

    Joel
Welcome to a new year and a new season of God's goodness!
    Dear Family,

Victoria and I love this time of the year because it’s filled with excitement and anticipation of what’s to come. No matter what this past year has brought you, we want to assure you that God wants to do new and incredible things in your life.

The power to see change in your life can be found in the words you speak. You have the power to set the destiny for your life...by what comes out of your mouth.

The bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 that life and death are found in the words we speak. No one gets to decide the words that come out of your mouth except for you.

You have complete control over what you choose to say.

Your words have the power to set things in motion, good or bad. They’re like little seeds that you plant in life.

When your words are filled with faith, hope and promise then you’ll enjoy the fruit of them. But if they’re filled with discouragement, fear and other negative attitudes you won’t enjoy your life.

Here at the beginning of a new year, let me encourage you! I speak hope, favor and new life to you. You are filled with God-given destiny and passion. You are everything God has called you to be! I declare this in Jesus’ name over your life today.

If you want to see your circumstances and situations change for the better, you have to start by planting good seeds through your words.

Make your confessions personal and real, and allow God’s strength and power to move; to change things for the better. Instead of saying “I’m not,” start saying “I am.” “I am blessed! I am able! I am healed! I am smart! I am gifted! I am everything God has called me to be!”

Victoria and I appreciate you and want you to know that as you intentionally bless and encourage others with your words, I know God will continue to pour out His blessings in your life.

    First Passover—Cleansing the Temple

13The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. 15And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.” 17His disciples remembered that it was written, “ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE WILL CONSUME ME.” 18The Jews then said to Him, “What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?” 19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21But He was speaking of the temple of His body. 22So when He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.

23Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. 24But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, 25and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.

    Today's Inspiring Thought: Earthly Pleasures
Job enjoyed great wealth and abundant blessing from the Lord. These were his words of testimony when he lost everything.

God created the earth and everything in it as gifts for our enjoyment. He wants us to receive pleasure from all of the beauty and wonder that he made. The key, however, is accepting God's gifts with an open hand and an open heart. Are we, like Job, willing to let go whenever God decides to take away one of his gifts, whether it be a loved one, a job, a house, or any other earthly pleasure?

“I will go before you and make the crooked places straight...”
    (Isaiah 45:2, NKJ)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Are you going through a season where you feel like every time you try to move forward, you hit a roadblock? Something happens that throws you off course. Be encouraged today because when you submit your life to the Lord, He promises to go before you. He is preparing a way for you. He is making your crooked places straight and your rough places smooth. You may be going through a difficult time right now, but it’s not the end. It’s only the beginning, and God has equipped you for this journey.

Today, if you feel like you’re in a dry season, don’t look at your circumstances. Look at the promise of God! If you’ll keep speaking words of faith, God promises that He’ll anoint your head with oil and your cup will run over. That means you’ll be refreshed and anointed to do what He’s called you to do. God is preparing your path and equipping you for the journey.

What do you need in order to keep moving forward? Start by checking your attitude. Don’t go around complaining or focused on the negative side of things. Put on an attitude of praise and thanksgiving. Thank Him for making your crooked places straight! Keep your eyes on Him and follow Him forward into the path of victory!

    A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord in heaven, thank You for Your goodness in my life. Thank you for preparing the path for my life and making my crooked places straight. Thank You for restoring my soul and life and guiding me in everything I do. I submit every area of my life to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Hebrews 12:1-13
    New American Standard Bible

    Jesus, the Example

1Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

    A Father’s Discipline

          4You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin;

5and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
“MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD,
             NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM;

6FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES,
AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.”

7It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

12Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, 13and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

    Today's Bible Verse:

    Proverbs 16:2
People may be pure in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their motives. (NLT)

    Today's Inspiring Thought: Heart Motives

It seems one of the hardest things for us to do is to accurately judge ourselves. It is our natural tendency to go easy on ourselves, while judging others more harshly. God, on the other hand, intricately knows our hearts, as well as the motives behind our actions. He judges correctly, based on the true reasons whywe do what we do.

Before you let yourself off the hook too easily, allow the Lord to examine your heart.

    JOHN 10:24-39
24The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. 26“But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. 27“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29“My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30“I and the Father are one.”

31The Jews picked up stones again to stone Him. 32Jesus answered them, “I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?” 33The Jews answered Him, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.” 34Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I SAID, YOU ARE GODS’? 35“If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37“If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.” 39Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their grasp.

      Proverbs 3:5-8

    (5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; (6) in all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make your paths straight. (7) Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil. (8) This will bring health to your body
    and nourishment to your bones.

These verses contain the first principle upon which all our work and hope depend. In every aspect of life, we must take God into account. We should seek His counsel regarding our home, community, work, and play. This is not an elective but an absolute necessity, so the relationship established through Jesus Christ influences our conduct to the point that it is according to His will. This requires humility, but if we remember that He made us, and we are dependent upon Him for everything, the proper attitude comes easier. If we do not do this, we are foolishly failing to acknowledge the One whose thoughts and ways are higher than heaven is above the earth. All of our ways are in the hand of this Almighty Sovereign; success and safety are of the Lord. We of all people do not want to end up fighting the Almighty when He causes changes in civil government or in the church. They may appear on the surface to be working against us, but who is ruling?

Recall some examples from the Old Testament: Nimrod attempts to build a tower and unite all of mankind under one government, but God sweeps it away by the simple expedient of making communication too difficult. Esau burns with anger against Jacob, but when next they meet, he weeps for joy at seeing his brother. Joseph goes into Egypt a slave and spends time in prison based on a false charge, but as a result of God's blessing, he ends his life reconciled and reunited with his family and second in command of all Egypt. Israel is a slave people in Egypt, the most powerful nation on earth at the time, but God devastates it through supernatural occurrences—Israel is freed without "firing a shot." Balaam is hired to curse Israel, but God compels him to bless. Haman builds a gallows for Mordecai, but is hanged from it himself. Jonah resists God's command to preach to the hated enemy, the Assyrians, but God prepares a great fish just for him!

    Understanding this, David writes:

Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed saying, "Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us." He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure. . . . "You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." (Psalm 2:1-5, 9)

God is infinitely stronger than even the greatest of confederacies, and He will blow away the most extensive and vigorous efforts to overthrow His plans like so much dust. He laughs at man's puny attempts to rule without considering Him, their Creator, in whom they live and move and have their being. Will He who repulsed the attacks of Satan's mighty angelic host be put in fear of more limited men?

    (Psalm 23:4, NKJV)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Have you ever gone through something and felt like it was the valley of the shadow of death? During the tough times, it’s easy to get discouraged. But I love what it says in today’s verse, “though I walk through...”

No matter what you are facing today, know this: you are not alone, and you are just walking through. You don’t have to stop and live in the tough times! They are only temporary. I encourage you today; don’t allow fear to paralyze you in the middle of “the valley of the shadow of death.” Remember, God is with you. He is walking beside you. He is strengthening you. He is making a way of escape for you. He is lining up people and situations to bring you out of that tough place into a place of strength and victory.

Today, don’t give up! Press on and walk through! Start to get a vision of your life on the other side. See yourself more loving, more faithful, stronger and more blessed than ever before. As you keep moving forward and walking through, you will get to the other side and walk in the victory God has prepared for you!

    A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Thank You for walking with me even in the hard times. I trust that You are taking me through my circumstances to a place of victory and strength in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The life of the soul must be denied (Matt. 16:24-25), but the faculties of the soul----the mind, will, and emotion----must be renewed and uplifted by being subdued (10:4-5) so that they can be used by the spirit, the person of the inner man [2 Cor 4:16] that walks by faith, not by appearance.....Amen

    food for thoughts

Question: "What is predestination? Is predestination biblical?"

    Answer:
Romans 8:29-30 tells us, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” Ephesians 1:5 and 11 declare, “He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will…In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” Many people have a strong hostility to the doctrine of predestination. However, predestination is a biblical doctrine. The key is understanding what predestination means, biblically.

The words translated “predestined” in the Scriptures referenced above are from the Greek word proorizo, which carries the meaning of “determine beforehand,” “ordain,” “to decide upon ahead of time.” So, predestination is God determining certain things to occur ahead of time. What did God determine ahead of time? According to Romans 8:29-30, God predetermined that certain individuals would be conformed to the likeness of His Son, be called, justified, and glorified. Essentially, God predetermines that certain individuals will be saved. Numerous scriptures refer to believers in Christ being chosen (Matthew 24:22, 31; Mark 13:20, 27; Romans 8:33, 9:11, 11:5-7, 28; Ephesians 1:11; Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; 1 Timothy 5:21; 2 Timothy 2:10; Titus 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1-2, 2:9; 2 Peter 1:10). Predestination is the biblical doctrine that God in His sovereignty chooses certain individuals to be saved.

The most common objection to the doctrine of predestination is that it is unfair. Why would God choose certain individuals and not others? The important thing to remember is that no one deserves to be saved. We have all sinned (Romans 3:23), and are all worthy of eternal punishment (Romans 6:23). As a result, God would be perfectly just in allowing all of us to spend eternity in hell. However, God chooses to save some of us. He is not being unfair to those who are not chosen, because they are receiving what they deserve. God’s choosing to be gracious to some is not unfair to the others. No one deserves anything from God; therefore, no one can object if he does not receive anything from God. An illustration would be a man randomly handing out money to five people in a crowd of twenty. Would the fifteen people who did not receive money be upset? Probably so. Do they have a right to be upset? No, they do not. Why? Because the man did not owe anyone money. He simply decided to be gracious to some.

If God is choosing who is saved, doesn’t that undermine our free will to chose and believe in Christ? The Bible says that we have the choice—all who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10). The Bible never describes God rejecting anyone who believes in Him or turning away anyone who is seeking Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). Somehow, in the mystery of God, predestination works hand-in-hand with a person being drawn by God (John 6:44) and believing unto salvation (Romans 1:16). God predestines who will be saved, and we must choose Christ in order to be saved. Both facts are equally true. Romans 11:33 proclaims, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!”
