All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Now to share the other part. James 1:13 When someone is tempted, he shouldn't say that God is tempting him. God can't be tempted by evil, and God doesn't tempt anyone. For this reason we must learn that, there is a difference between, “testing” and “temptation.” However, God is Protecting us as we go through both. 1Cor 10:13 There isn't any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans. God, who faithfully keeps His Promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist. But when you are tempted, He will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape. We have no control over how thoughts come to us. From a song, to a aroma on the breeze, a memory can change into a temptation in a heartbeat. The accuser steps in and begins. Make no mistake, it is a opportunist. However, much is no accident. That innocent thought comes, the accuser automatically begins it’s assault. Doing whatever it can to, get us to dwell on a thought, that turns to an idea, that then can move to a temptation. From what we do next will demonstrate our hearts desires. Our reactions to things can tells us a lot about ourselves. They can show us what we need, and or the things that we do not. James 1:14 Everyone is tempted by his own desires as they lure him away and trap him. The young and or foolish, can at times challenge or taunt the enemy. This is foolish behavior and can prove costly. 2Cor 11:3 However, I'm afraid that as the snake deceived Eve by its tricks, so your minds may somehow be lured away from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. Others will spend much of their time, in fear or worry in what “it” is doing or has done to them. Both are wrong, nor is there middle ground. It was kicked out of Heaven, and Jesus took what death held over all. We are to rebuke it in Jesus Name, and move on. Char had started a discussion some time back about “Testing or Tempting?”, part of what I shared {I believe through the Spirit} was, “When we are tempted, that plays on our weakness. The enemy is involved in that. When we are tested, that plays to our strength in Christ. The Father is involved in that.” I think at least this is one way of looking at the two. As we fall into temptations, our flesh is benefited. As we pass the tests in our lives, Jesus is Glorified and others will be benefited. On the other hand, when we do not fall into temptations, we are strengthen, when we fail the test we are also, weakened. We are able to see in James, the importance of testing. James 1:2-4 My brothers and sisters, be very happy when you are tested in different ways. 3You know that such testing of your faith produces endurance. 4Endure until your testing is over. Then you will be mature and complete, and you won't need anything. We all have times when we are going through testing, these can be the last words we want to hear. However, they are some of the Words we need, need to stand with Faith on, and allow them to give us Comfort. Shows the importance of being in His Word, in and out of season. Once again, this began to branch out. So I will focus on this part and finish, and go the other direction another time, Lord Willing. As we learn the distinguish between testing and temptation. We determine to learn, and allow the Word to influence our thinking and actions. At the same time we yield to the Spirit, so we are able to discern, what is and what is not of God. In doing so we can see, those things having to do with testing, will have substance. The experience will help us to grow. Then the flip-side, temptations may allure and fascinate, but to fall to them can cost us dearly. No matter what they promise, they take far more then they could ever give. As with all the subjects, I look forward to discussions on this subject. I believe we can learn much from one another. Please share your ideas.

Thanks brother for sharing this. I just want to point out this verse, James 1:14 Everyone is tempted by his own desires as they lure him away and trap him

The best thing that we can do is found in Romans 12:2  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This is what I learned as our Father continues to teach me..we need to renew our mind everyday..

God bless us all!

This is what Hamm had sent me on this subject

Chris I have been contemplating this for some time (years), and after reading your blog and dipping into others over the the last few weeks, thoughts have become more complicated. I am reading Corinthians and again this thing of being spiritual and being able to be spiritual and being born spiritual. The question or should I say feeling thoughts etc, is, am I carnal, am I not able to be spiritual?

I am of flesh as we all are but I wish I wasn't of flesh, I have temptations, or are their just normal human/flesh needs which are then made into temptations by the accuser or by that dark voice that condems what would be of natural man (carnal)a normal chemical biological reaction.

I don't want to be inbetween. If this makes sense. I want to be spiritual I really can't wait that I leave flesh and the spirit takes over, so I don't have the needs of flesh either and the guilt the regrets the feeling judged by God & Jesus, The feeling of being weak. If I could really really feel the "spirit which is of God; that I might know and understand the things that are freely given to us from God". But I don't seem to be able to do this. "When it's one need in the night" when its that want to be loved by others, to be accepted to feel loved by another. (which I am told by my studies and psychology, this is a mental health problem) But you see I think if I was carnal I wouldn't want to be spitirtual I would just be able to handle the temptations the normal chemical/biological reactions of a natural man, without being judged, without hearing the acusser, the voice of judgment. I f this makes sense and is relevant?

Its not that I have temtations that are evil, I don't wish any harm on others or take from others, or see any living thing suffer because of my needs or others in fact. I can accept others for who thay are and without judging, I can will form an opinion though.

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned."Cor2 14.

Becuase I am weak I am neither fully carnal and accept the natural things of man and because I don't feel or fully understand the spirit, where am I. I feel lost and confused with it. Maybe this is my learning?

The words " However, God is Protecting us as we go through both. From a song, to a aroma on the breeze, a memory can change into a temptation in a heartbeat."

Are so relevant in that I ask my self the testing and tempting of living in flesh is hurting me so much that God could help me a little bit more and help me decide weather I am carnal and my desire to be spiritual is pointless because it is not working either way living on earth and being of flesh. When will the testing and tempting end? Believing that Jesus suffered for my sins our sins even before we have made them is tempting me to say (because of my hurting) thankyou Jesus, but I don't want to be tested and tempting any more I would lover the desires of the the flesh to leave me now so I don't hurt no more, So I am not confused any more so I can live spiritually without hurting.

Wow I seemed to go on a bit there Chris. Hope it is relevant ot yiour blog?

One thing I am beginning to see about this is, we are tempted by our weakness in our flesh.  As we deny our flesh, those desires lose there hold and strength on us.  So our flesh is weakened.  I love words and finding out what they mean.  When I looked up synonyms for "test" I was blessed by what I found out.  Here are a few of them.  Confirm, Demonstrate, Experiment, Prove, Run it up the flagpole, Validate.  These are but a few.   However, for me they show that we go through "testing" to authenticate; establish, those things of God inside of us.  Giving strength to our spirit, putting us in a better place to give Glory to God.  Through testing we are better able to certify, what God is doing in us.  We are bale to better determine what is and what is not of God.  Let me know what you think.

This is from MartyP, this is what she has sent me about this.

well Brother Chris, this has straighten me out quite a bit.  i am in a testing season; it's just hard to distinquish if it is the Lord's testing, past mistakes that have caught up to me, or just down right bad luck,  can you expound on that?  or anyone else is welcome to expound as well.

Marty

One thing I would say about what you have shared.  We Believe and Trust that we are in the Father's Hands. When we gave out life to Him, we put ourselves under his Protection and Guidance.  Since this is true then, everything that happens to us will bring us closer to, the Image of  Christ. 2Cor 4:7-9  Our bodies are made of clay, yet we have the treasure of the Good News in them. This shows that the superior power of this treasure belongs to God and doesn't come from us. In every way we're troubled, but we aren't crushed by our troubles. We're frustrated, but we don't give up. We're persecuted, but we're not abandoned. We're captured, but we're not killed. We surrender to his Will.  We Trust that He is only doing or allowing what s best for us.  Only the things that bring us in the likeness of Jesus.  As we go through this life, as we grow into who He made us to be.  We will have times that it seems, all has failed, but we are Not Abandoned!!  Testing and temptation are but, in one way tools to bring us to that goal.  Hope is how we breathe.  Trust is how we float; how we keep our heads above the water.  Knowledge and Understanding gives us a reason to continue.  But, it is LOVE for and from HIM that, gives us the desire to not give up.

James 1; 13, 14 When tempted no one should say , God is tempting, God tempts no one God tempts us o
do good , He set's before us the exceeding great precious promises,He was not tempted because of sin or weakness. are temptations are results of our own natural desires and weakness,Thesecare stimulated from
without often our companions and influences toward evil in various forms,These might be charged back to Satan, for all sin entered the world by him.

I wonder if we can look at it this way.  As we allow God to strengthen us through testing.  We then bec0me stronger when temptation comes.  As we can see from James 1 and in other places, we are tempted from the weakness in our flesh.  As we face temptations, and do not avoid them, nor fall to them.  They lose there hold on us.  Then the "testing" comes, which we have already seen can mean, validation; confirmation, of Jesus in our lives; so testing proves the evidence of God in our life.  Testing does not break us, but shows our Strength in Him.  Temptation shows us what we need to work on.  It revels our possible weakness, so we must then humble ourselves before God.  Praise Him for the ability to endure (1Cor 10:13), so All the Praise and Glory goes to Jesus.  When temptation comes God gives us Strength to endure.   Testing will confirmation that Jesus through the Spirit is working in our life.

I think we need to understand first that we are Loved by God.  We are Victorious, in Christ Jesus.  That understood, by thinking in human terms, we fail or not.  I do not believe it is that, cut and dry.   Temptation comes from our weaknesses.  Of our own strength, we will fail.  I think we need to look at all this differently.  We need Jesus!  The more we know that the better.  When temptations come, let them be a reminder to us, "We need JESUS!"  As we face them, may it be that we humble ourselves before Him.  Know that we have been given the Ability, to resist them.  So we offer up our Praise.  Let testing not be about pass or fail.  But, let testing be a way of seeing, His Grace.  As we cook something, we taste it as we go, we then adjust what we add or dilute.  That can be seen as "testing."  When we build a let's say a deck.  After we are done, and as we walk on the boards, that we then shows the wood's strength.  By our walking on the wood, it is "tested" in how it supports us.  The testing shows; revels strength.  We are not going to get everything right, we need the opportunity to shows the Grace of God in the manner we behave.  Hope that made sense.

Nice topic!..

First, let's simplify it.. Some questions to ponder..

How could we know if it is a test or a temptation?

What is the difference between test and temptation?

When can we say, this is a test or this is a temptation?

Does God really tempt his people?or he just tests?

What does he test on his people?

Hhhhmm.. was just reflecting on Job's life..

Is what happened to him a test or a temptation?

And how did he react?

Did he give in with all the voices that surrounds him? or did he hold on to what God says who he is?

:) Ephesians 6:10 - 12

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

THE POSITION OF KNOWING GIVES US VICTORY.

Knowing who we are in Christ, gives us Victory :

But God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline : 2 Timothy 1:7

God bless you all guys! :)
