Eph 4:21-24 21Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
Rom 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
We must make sure we put on the new nature, and leave the old one off. We cannot live in both worlds. This often is, part of the problem we all have at times. We all know what the sinful nature leads to, a moment of pleasure will lead to guilt, or far worse. We must have a humble heart, it is there the Spirit has room to lead us. As we chose His way and not our own, we begin to walk in Holiness. What are some of the ways you have found to, "Walk in the Spirit?"

I must admit I have not heard of the concept of, " Spiritual breathing." in Rom 6:19 19 Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become Holy. Rom 6:22 22But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to Holiness and result in eternal life. Rom 8:2 And because you belong to Him, the Power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
These I know. That as we follow Him in obedience to His Word and Ways, He is there with us every step of the way. To guide us, to strengthen us, to fills us with His Joy, Peace, and His Wonderful Love, thus giving us what we need to accomplish His Plan for us.
as I have said, I have not heard that phrase before, but it sounds like obedience to me. I am not being critical in any way, I just have never heard the phrase. If, you could show me in the Scripture this, I would appreciate that, so as to understand it better.
Thank you Sister
Elaine
As I have pondered parts of our exchange. And, as I went back and read this, the parts that tripped me up were, "Spiritual breathing will make it possible to experience God love, forgiveness, and the
power and control of Spirit.." This was part of it for me. Now I want to be clear here Sister, I am not questioning how this works for you. And, nor am I judging you from this. But, as for me to experience God Love, forgiveness, and the Power and control of Spirit, I just receive these things by Faith. And, I ask for forgiveness, and again receive it by Faith. When you share, " make it possible to experience" that part I did not understand. As this works for you than, I say be Blessed. I just wanted to clear up any questions you might of had. And, to apologize for saying anything that may have seemed critical.
Sister
Thank you for, " I am not taking anything you say critical" I trust you know my heart by now Elaine. I was not being critical just wanted to know more on what you were sharing. I understand now, and again please do not think I was putting you down in any way.
Lord Bless you Elaine

Hi Chris Have to say for each of us I believe there will be certain variences to this Walk. To make it very short for me I find the less I do the more the Spirit works. When I am running around trying to do all "the right things" it seems there is something missing. Whereas when I have faith/belief take each moment by moment earnestly seeking The Lord is the times I see The Spirit move.
In my case I believe this to be so because when I am trying it is exactly that "I am trying". And my works get in the way.
To walk in the Spirit can be a very Joyful event. It can be a heavy burden, that needs to be Prayed through. One part that I enjoy very much is, just talking to others. As we share maybe they have come seeking advice. And, as I talk I know what is me, and what is Holy Ghost. Often, I will say, "did you just hear that?" "That was pure Wisdom all the Spirit and none of me." I am always so grateful that I can be used that way. One of the most important things I have learned, it is not about us. It is about Holy Spirit and other people, and how the Spirit choose to use us. Having a humble heart, which includes yielding our wills to Him is a Must. Some may read this and think, if your heart is so humble than why talk about this, in this way? I know there are some out there who, are beginning to take steps similar then the ones I have taken. I did not have anyone to help me, in many of the areas I have grown up in. It is for them that I share much of what I share.
Yes, indeed He is very Awesome.
Lord Bless you Sister as well
Hi Brothers and Sisters,
We must make sure we put on the new nature, and leave the old one off. We cannot live in both worlds. This often is, part of the problem we all have at times.
Chris.....how true, how true. Galatians 5:17, " For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please."
I think this is why God set up the time of "sanctification" for new believers.......to shed our old nature.....kind of like a snake shedding its skin.
Actually, Galatians 5:24 puts the matter in perspective - " Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
And we all know that crucifiction is a s-l-o-w death.......and it takes time to lose old habits and ways of the world.
I like your words, Bro.....about having a humble heart to make room for the Spirit to lead us.
I also like Sister Elaine's concept of Spiritual breathing.
Grace and Peace.
Sister Elaine.
This is not the first time you've mentioned, "Breath God in and Breath ego out" and I am tempted to take your word for it. This implies that our thoughts and every breath we take must be of God. I suppose this is what is expected of us as christians. Whatever we think, say or do must be of God.
This sounds easy but, it is not at all. The world we live in is so chaotic and most of us are influenced by the things in it. We falter and ask God for forgiveness and believe we are forgiven when we confess and repent.
For the young believer, the journey is more like a roller coaster. If we can but heed to the call in Romans 2:2 "Don't copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is."
Breathing in God and breathing out our ego, will bring in the power of the Holy Spirit to take control of our being and guide our actions and thoughts to God. On our own we cannot make it, we all need the power of the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us in our endeavours to do the will of God.
Blessings!
Lina
Amen. I understand what Elaine shared. However, the items you point out I must say I agree with you. I am glad that Elaine has found a way to ease her walk. Yet, I do not think it is for everybody, I am glad it works for her. I share your concerns. As for me, I must completely surrender, I have no ability of my own, that is of value. I have no desire to judge, for that is a fine line. I believe you Lina do not, as well as Elaine have no desire to judge another. For we are here to learn from one another.
Lord Bless you both
