I have been pondering the relationship we had in Adam which, say's Paul, "Brings Death."
Now through Salvation in Christ we live eternally with Him in Heaven and possess eternal life now as well as abundant life.
Now, we still struggle with temptation to sin of course, just post a sign on your garden that say's "Keep off the grass" and watch what happens!
Now, Paul tells us that Adam was taken to the cross, so too, we as inheritors of Adams sinful nature were taken there too, so Paul's logic takes us to the place where we reason that we have now died to sin, Right?
My question?
Why then, being dead to sin, do we keep on sinning?
I do have my thoughts on this and convictions, but, I do want to engender discussion to read what other "Thinkers" might have to say,
Thanks,
Colin

Greetings Brother Colin,
Couple of verses to start with - 1 John 1:9,"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
1 John 3:9,"No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in Him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
So, what I hear God`s Word saying here is that a believer will still sin occasionally, but not on purpose, or wantonly. Why, because we`re still human and have that nature. Then we go to 1 John 1:9.
But we, as believers, don`t make a habit of sinning because we don`t want to displease our Lord. Please see Hebrews 10:26.
Think of it this way. a professional athlete (baseball, football, etc.) will make an error sometimes. THEY DON`T WANT TO. They might be penalized. They might be booed. They usually feel bad about it. Compare that to a believer sinning. They feel bad about it.
But a false believer doesn`t care. They are dead to sin.
Grace and Peace.
Colin,
The sin that the Bible refers to is the sin of disbelief. That is the sin we must overcome. Once we have overcome that sin, we will try to avoid other sins. God knows we won't avoid all of them, and that is probably why He overlooks these lesser sins. Christ died for all of the sin committed but we must accept His death and resurrection in order for His blood to cover the other sins we commit. God offered us a pardon in the form of the Blood of Christ. That pardon covers all the sins we will ever commit.
The unforgivable sin is the one of disbelief in Christ as Savior. That sin can never be forgiven until we come to Christ.
Blessings, Colin.
Rita
