A Living Hope

1 Peter 1:3  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (NIV)

We are given new birth into a living Hope.  The words "Living Hope," are to me very powerful. 

Rom 8:24  says, "For we were saved w/ this Hope in mind.  If we hope for something we already have, it's not really hope.  Who hope for what we aready have?"  ( GW)

Living Hope is an active; determined, trust, that we grow w/ .  As it says, "Who hopes for what we already have?" So if we have a car, we do not have to hope for one.  Yet, we do hope it will get us somewhere.  The same is true that when we lift weights, we hope to become strong.  We are diligent to develop, a growing trust,in our Jesus.

Ultimately our Hope, is being w/ God, Jesus and Holy Ghost when get to heaven.  Jesus died and rose from the dead, and in that act we are given Hope into our "new birth."  I believe we must exersice our faith; living hope in more then getting to heaven.  Peter knew about hopelessness, and the feeling we have in those times.  In the worldly sense, when we have hope in something sooner or later, our bodies; material things; etc, will fell us.  So I think Peter surely understood, the idea of Living Hope.  Because Jesus stood there right before him, the living breathing Hope.
