Greetings Prayer Room Participants,
Something has been brought to my attention that I need to address. It is our desire for this room to be a place to bring prayer requests and to ask for brothers and sisters in Christ to stand with us in our time of need. At the same time we need to be mindful of how we pray. By this, I mean that though we want to pray positively for others we need to be very careful regarding the language we use, especially when the request we are praying for involves another person who is part of the reason the prayer requests is being brought forth. We need to choose our words wisely and make sure that we are not digressing into a situation where we are name calling or accusing another of being of the devil.
There are number of factors I could go over, but think it not wise to give to much attention to negative actions and will simply encourage us to focus on the request and laying it before God without accusing another. For in any request our goal must always be a righteous outcome of which only God can know the exact answer that is needed in any situation.
Because this is a serious situation that can lead to other problems for individuals and TheNET our team will need to monitor the Prayer Room more closely and will need to remove remarks that appear to be derogatory.
If you see any comments that appear questionable please inform me immediately. You will stay anonymous and I will make the final judgment on the comment in question.
(NEW) Because this is an open group that is visible to the worldwide web we need to refrain from using names when praying for others without their permission.
Lord Bless,
LT

David,
I certainly understand your feelings and I think we all have to follow God to the best of our ability and understanding. There are many things about our cultures that present problems. I think Paul is a wonderful example of facing life in a different culture. He seemed to be able to embrace the different cultures while many of the Jewish leaders in the church really struggled with that. Paul had no problems eating with Gentiles, apparently staying with them, and I think he would have celebrated their different holidays with them unless it would have involved false worship. Peter, on the other hand, struggled with that and God had to really get on him at times about it. God wanted them to take the Gospel to the Gentile world which as we know is very heathen. It is still very heathen. God wants His people to tell others about His great love for them. God is the one true God and we have the responsibility to tell others that He is. Some would have us get rid of the Christmas trees as they also have some Gentile flavor. I really don't think that is what God is asking of us in our effort to reach our lost world. Blessings, David, and I pray that our Lord helps you in your search for your walk with Him. I know He will. In Jesus name.
Valentine's day makes me think of Song of Solomon.
"My beloved is mine, and I am his; He pastures his flock among the lilies. (Song of Solomon 2:16)
Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies. (Song of Solomon 6:13)
It asks us a question...What will you see in the Shulamite?
What I found...It's a true story about a beautiful maiden who was in a relationship with a young shepherd. They made promises to each other. One day King Solomon notices her beauty and wants her. The king can provide pleasure and luxury, and he pours on the charm. The shepherd is capable of building a relationship. The shepherd cares about her heart and soul, while the king cares only for her beauty. She must choose between the one who offers her true love and a wealthy king who offers only sensuous love.
When I see the Shulamite, I see someone who is faithful.
Thank you very much brother Roy Wilson, it's only that I am very careful right from childhood I was taught that Valentines wanst very healthy for a believer as it promotes sin.
Jayaseelan,
I don't understand your culture, but I ask God to intervene and help you. And I ask God to give you the strength of ten men. Whether it's to move equipment or endurance, God knows the need. In Jesus' name, Amen.
The subject of valentines, I don't see any harm in saying I love you to family and friends, and a big hug. Don't spend too much and charge things. My most memorable valentine was a corny love poem and a big heart sucker which we split and ate. I think we had $5 in our bank account. I had to do the math, that was 37 years ago. A simple gesture of affection can be very meaningful. :-)
David, you are a part of a culture and should do all you can to be a blessing to those in that culture. Paul certainly did give us that sense as he ate meat with those who did and didn't with those who didn't. However, we are not allowed to participate in those things that compromise our faith. I don't see how this celebration would cause that. Anything, however, can be taken to excess. Dressing up as a demon or witch on Halloween might be an excess. However, we probably should take this discussion to another forum.
Tell me brothers and sisters is alright for us children of the most hight God involve our selves in celebrations of world for example valentines day?
God bless you as well Lina. And Elaine, I marvel at what you have to do to post on this site. I pray God's blessing on you all.
