After the disciples observe Christ in constant communion with the Father, They ask, Lord Teach Us How to pray.. (Luke 11:1)
Why, of all things that they could ask Jesus to teach them, why Prayer?
What is the importance of prayer and what is the role of prayer in the lives of a believer?
God bless you as you share.. :)

I love it. wow..
Keep serving and sharing what God has deposited in your heart. :)
God bless you.
As His disciples knew Jesus spent much time in Prayer. They also heard Him talk to His Father. Who better in the entire world to ask. They witnessed all of the Power that flowed through the Lord. I would image they also understood the closeness of Their Relationship. And, as we all would and do, desire the closest type of relationship to Our Father as possible. Prayer gives us that and so much more. To humble ourselves and Pray for others, for knowledge, and to spend time with our Father.
Great! wow.. so encouraging words.
Prayer really strengthen our relationship with God our Father in Heaven. Amen.
Praise and glory to God.
Keep serving the Lord faithfully big brother. Amen
God bless you more and more. :)
PART – 1
Wow, good question let me share my view point Prayer is just talking to God; Prayer is communicating with God. There is power in prayer!
My wife always tells me that Prayer is the backbone of every believer
Let’s observe Luke 11:1 “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples “
Why his disciples did ask him about prayer?
All through the bible we see that Jesus had performed many miracles before his disciples before every miracle he just looked up to heaven and prayed to God Almighty
Jesus turned water into wine ----- John 2:1
Jesus healed the royal official's son who was sick at Capernaum ---- John 4:46-50
Jesus healed a centurion's paralyzed servant ---- Matt. 8:5-6
Jesus healed the paralyzed man lowered through the roof --- Mark 2:1
Jesus fed the 4,000 people with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish --- Matt. 15:29-38
Jesus raised a widow's son from the dead --- Luke 7:11-15
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead --- John 11:1, 43-44
Seeing all this we know that Jesus was a MAN OF PRAYER , He kept on praying to his Father in Spirit and the disciples wanted to know the secret; they want to pray like Jesus so that they can also perform miracles to Glorify Gods name
Well to be Precise all Part of GODS DIVINE PLAN He wants us to know how to pray
Wonderful.
I love that "Man of Prayer" and with that Jesus set an example for us to be man and woman of prayer too. As what He did. Amen.
An Hours on your knees, brings victory in a seconds! Amen.
I love it. :)
PART – 2
Let’s see some words of Jesus about prayer
The Teachings of Jesus
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth; they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then you’re Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. ----- Matthew 6:5
1. In fact, Jesus rebukes those who pray using repetitions,
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him --- Matthew 6:7-8
Prayer is not something we are supposed to memorize and simply recite to God.
Prayer doesn’t have a format, it not based on the eloquence of our prayers.
We don't have to use certain words or phrases to get God to answer our prayers.
PART- 3
2. Have a Humble Heart
To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable
'Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: "God, I thank you that I am not like other men-robbers, evildoers, adulterers-or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get." But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted" ---- Luke 18:9-14
God hates Pride; Proverbs 29:23 tells that “A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor”
So do humble and commit to Gods will
3. Have Faith in God and have a heart of Forgiveness
Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins ---- Mark 11:22-25
Bible says that everyone has been given a measure of faith; Faith can activate miracles in your life; but the catch is James 2:17 says that “faith without work is dead; “as believers we need to take the first step and God will lead you towards victory in your life “
You all know about forgiveness; Jesus even forgave the thief on the cross ; that’s the extreme level of forgiveness , The prayer of an unforgiving heart won’t reach heaven
Forgiveness will make your prayer powerful, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness ---1 John 1:9
PART- 4
4. Pray in the name of Jesus
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it --- John 14:13-14
What Jesus meant here is that ; you can ask me for anything in my name and I will do it; Our God is a righteous ; so we need to ask him for Good and Pure things
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures --- James 4:3
If you ask him for anything against his will then your access is denied
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective --- James 5:16
Role of prayer in the lives of a believer
1 John 5:14-15 tells us, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him."
No matter the person praying, the passion behind the prayer, or the purpose of the prayer - God answers prayers that are in agreement with His will.
When our desires line up with His will, when we pray according to God's will, God responds powerfully!
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus --- Philippians 4:6-7
As a believer in Christ we all face problems and battles; some may face trails from their own family members and some from work or in a relationship; we tend to get angry and we over react.
But do you know the real truth, The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
PART- 5
We all face Spiritual Battles
At times like this we have a wonderful counselor with us; a trustworthy friend, Bible says that we are blessed with THE LIVING WATER from Christ; this living water is nothing but Gods Holy Spirit
Romans 8:26 tells us that “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express"
So when you deny your self-will and pray to God ; Holy spirit will take Control , it’s our duty to pray in Spirit on all occasions The Bible urges us in Ephesians 6:18 as "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints “
As Christians, we're called to give ourselves to God as a "Living Sacrifice"
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. ----- Romans 12:1-2
So, how do we truly present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice?
That is dying to self is nothing but denying your self will and commit to the will of God we must change the way that we think in order that we can change the way that we live. We do this by dwelling upon what is true ... noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report ---- Phil. 4:8
Finally this is what God wants you to do
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus ---- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
