All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

One day as I was thinking on the things that are above,
I felt no heart could know the depth or breadth of Jesus' love.

I sought a time, a place to give these thoughts more meditation,
To think about the Savior, and the wonder of creation.

I wandered through the city with its asphalt, brick and tile,
But found no quiet place where one could meditate awhile.

The mountains seemed to beckon, "Come away, away from there.
Come out to the hillsides, where God's beauty you can share."

And so I left the city, left the turmoil, noise and strife,
And to the countryside I fled, as one who flees for life.

As I walked along the hillsides, I espied a wild, red rose.
This sudden glimpse of beauty almost set my heart aglow.

"The Rose of Sharon," thought I, "Is just such a thing as this,
A sudden glimpse of beauty in a world that’s gone amiss."

A lamb walked in the valley, spotless, pure, and white as snow.
I wanted to reach out and touch him in the vale below.

And then I thought of Jesus, Lamb of God who died that day.
My meditation lasted until day had passed away.

Then as the darkness gathered and the sun withheld its light,
My heart was bright as noonday, for the Lord was my delight.

And when the stars of evening glowed with brightness from afar,
I thought of my redeemer, Christ, the Bright and Morning Star.

I had no fear of harm there, whether sleeping or awake,
For I seemed to hear the promise, "I'll not leave you nor forsake."

The morning sun arose then, warmth and brightness to impart,
But it seemed pale against the Day Star rising in my heart.

I turned reluctantly, for I must needs be homeward bound,
I must go to the city, there to hear the man-made sounds.

And so I left the beauty of the fertile countryside,
And as I left I knew that I was filled with peace inside.

I thought how few there be who see the beauty of my Lord,
How few who take the time to seek out Christ, and his rewards;

Who seek the sparkling treasures this world offers, all aglow,
And like the city dwellers, miss the beauty of the Rose.
