THE CROSS IN THE SNOW
God has so richly blessed me since I began my walk with Jesus just sixteen months ago. I wrote this blog in March to testify how Faithfull Our Heavenly Father is to His Children. I am reposting it on this wonderful site as I was inspired this morning after chatting with a young girl who could use this testimony right about now and for any one of us to read when conditions in our lives discourage us, as they sometimes do. I pray that it speaks to this young girl’s heart and helps many of us remember and keep it close in our hearts that Our God is an Amazing God!!! WE LOVE YOU LORD!!!
I was not sure where to post this, in a blog or a testimony as it is worthy of both.
Last night was my first night at a new job and since I was working a late shift and had church in the morning I had decided I would take a taxi home. I went out to call a taxi and realized that I might very well not be able to even get a hold of one. As nature so often has it in this city there was a huge blizzard outside and about eight inches of snow on the ground. I set about trying to get a cab but with no luck. Still trying and still praying to get through to no avail I decided to take the C-train praying that I had not missed the last one into the city center. As it happens it was late arriving so I had not missed it but I knew for sure that I had missed my connection downtown that would take me home. I was downtown, female, and alone and trying to trudge through deep and fresh snow in freezing cold weather and not dressed for this as it had been a beautiful sunny day when I had set out for work that morning. I looked for a taxi that I might be able to flag down but none were in sight, in fact it was pretty deserted and I could not even find someplace open where I could take refuge out of the wind and the cold. It is times like these when you can’t even find a telephone. At that time I was looking at a ten mile walk home in this blizzard. I found myself walking in a direction that I knew was venturing farther away from anywhere I might find help but I kept going anyway. I was actually talking out loud to God and saying to Him “God this is not the right way, it’s the wrong direction". I kept walking for about fifteen minutes when I saw light shining in the snow ahead of me from a building and the closer I came to the light I noticed something very familiar about the image it was reflecting in the snow.. It was glowing in a shape much like the image of the cross so I knew right then that there was help inside that building. The doors were locked but there was a janitor and two security guards inside so I knocked on the windows and they let me in. I always hated cell phones but this night I was thanking God for cell phones. The security guards tried to call me a cab but we still could not get through and I could only think of one friend who would still be awake at that time of the night so I called my friend. I got through to my friend who told me to stay exactly where I was and not to move and the security guards insisted I wait inside.
It was very early in the morning when I finally arrived home thanking God all the way.
I will never forget this night and how God led me to safety; it is etched in my memory and in my heart forever. God led me to that building and He sent me four beautiful angels, four good Samaritans, and He shone a light of the cross on the snow for me to find my way.
So when we think that God is taking us the wrong ways, in the wrong direction as far as our own understanding, know that He will never take you where His Grace will not save you.
God carried me last night as He always has
Our God will never leave us. Thank You Lord. For being there in my time of need, once again. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!
