MEMORY VERSE: I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations (Psalm 89:1).
It is easy and natural to sing of the Lord's mercy and faithfulness when all is going well. But that is not the message of this psalm. Rather, the psalmist declares that he will use his tongue to magnify the Lord no matter what comes upon him. He will sing of God's mercies forever and will tell of His faithfulness to young and old.
To have that kind of consistent testimony, one must learn that God is sufficient even in difficult times. That is what Wava Campbell has expressed in her moving poem:
HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR THIS
His grace is sufficient for this.
I wasn't quite sure it would be;
And often I've quaked at the thought
That this thing could happen to me.
But now in a special new way
I know He's enough, come what may;
This trial is surely not bliss,
But His grace is sufficient for this.
His grace is sufficient for this,
And therefore for other things too;
And so I can face without fear,
The things that He tells me to do.
Our Lord is unchanging. He's always merciful, always faithful. Sing it forever. Tell it to all.
Sing and make melody to the Lord (see Ephesians 5:19).
