Thanks Bob for starting this type of discussion:
We need to be free to serve our Great redeemer.
A number of years ago i wrote and preached a sermon on what you my brother, call "traps of the enemy" - I will not go into details of the sermon; only in summary.
In truth with plenty of study in the book of Ephesians, we may find that real trap exists in our minds,The Way we allow the thoughts to dominate and control our wants, desires, and things that we think we have to have, and bring to our lives.
One of these traps which the enemy can use against us, is really a simple way of how we allow ourselves to think. We must not forget, we have reached a number of years by thinking the way we by habit do.
Stop and think about what we are thinking about; in other words, "analyze", do my thoughts align with the person God created me to be?
If ,what I do, will this hurt me or other people...How will this affect my life? and ...and so on.
We in the body Christ most often forget that we are new creation, we have the mind of Jesus, if so where is it at in our thinking.
We don't have this mind, because we don't believe that we indeed have His mind, Believe it and we shall have it. It is in the place where God put it for our use. By faith I have the mind of Jesus!
When the Holy Spirt wrote through Paul, saying "renew your mind", that iwas not a suggestion, it is a command; that is, if we want to live the abundant life Jesus promised us.
Next, if Satan can use our minds, then within reason, the liar, destroyer can also use the minds of other people who can then come against the body of Christ Jesus.
Also, the book of proverbs, gives us advanced warning, "What you Think you will become"-
Then, What you think "comes out the mouth" and what comes out of the mouth creates the situation; words are very powerfull.
