All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

EXPOSING THE TRAPS OF THE ENEMY

The enemy( Satan ) uses lies to create doubt, to lure us into his trap.

In the book of Genesis the Devil in the form of a serpent created doubt in Eve by saying, “Did God really say? (Genesis 3:1)

His opening move pull mankind into into sin and rebellion against God is to create doubt through lies and distortions of the truth that he is trying to get Eve to believe.

In Matthew chapter four Jesus is being tempted in the same way. “If you are the son of God?'

First the Devil raises doubt, then he sends the temptation to try to lead us astray, and his tactics have not changed.

The enemy tries to make us believe that being a follower of Jesus is to restrictive.

Who lavishly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.( 1 Timothy 6:17 NAS )

He seeks to get us to ignores the great blessing that comes from a relationship with God,
or the riches of Christian marriage and family, the security of a Christian home, the level of friendship that we can enjoy as Christians, and countless other things that God offers to those who know and love the Lord.

He seeks to entrap us into thinking and concentrating on a tiny unimaginable list of prohibitions of what Christians are not allowed to do.

There are very few things that God does not allow us to do, and there are very good reasons why He prohibits them.

In the case of Eve, the Devil said to her that God was keeping them from something that was very desirable. In this case it was being like God knowing good and evil. ( Genesis 3:5 )

Satan tries makes God out to be a spoiled sport and that he does not want what's best for our lives. He tries to make us think we are really missing out on life by obeying God.

The Devil tries to tell us there will not be a penalty for disobedience

He tries to entrap us is to get us to believe that there will not be a penalty for our disobedience.

Like Eve in Genesis 3:4 he says to us, “You will not surely die,”
He says in affect that it won't hurt you, or do you any harm if you disobey God, but the truth is disobedience causes us to miss out on so much that God intends for us.

The Devil's favorite entrapment

It was just brought to my attention that God gave Adam and Eve a chance to repent. God said to them in Genesis 3:11, "Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat fruit from the tree I commanded you not to eat from?"

Instead of repenting they blamed;

Did you eat fruit from the tree I commanded you not to eat from?" The man answered, "That woman, the one you gave me, gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."Then the LORD God asked the woman, "What have you done?""The snake deceived me, and I ate," the woman answered. ( Genesis 3:11-13 )

We can't blame each other, or even the devil when we sin.

James 1:13-15
13When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

In conclusion
The Devil uses lies to lead us to doubt, then he tells us we are missing out because Gods boundaries of conduct are to restrictive and that we are missing out. Then the Devil cons us into believing that there will be no consequences for our disobedience, then he tries to get us to blame others for our sin.

1John 1:9 says that if we just admit that we have sinned, then God will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God want us to know that even if we fall into one of the traps of the enemy that he will always be a very present help in our time of need. He also does not want us to be ignorant of the Devil's devices that he uses to seek to entrap us.

1John 4:4 says; “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”

1John 2:1 says; “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;”

Prayer
Father God thank you for delivering us from the entrapments of the evil one. Father help us to deal with doubt first and foremost so that we do not spiral into temptation, and fall into sin. Father help us to take responsibility for our lives, by not blaming, but repenting when we fall. Father God help us to never believe the lie that you are not a good God, and that you only give us prohibitions because you to restrictive. Help us to always see that you care about our wellbeing. We also thank you for giving to us all we need to live victorious over the enemy, so we don't have to fall into one of his traps. In Jesus name , amen.

That prayer is what i was waiting to have
The closer I am getting to God, the more Satan is feeding me lies and sending many temptations my way. Pray for me that God will give me strength to stay away from sinful activities.
Thanks,
Kathy
Without a battle there would be no victory sister. Remember that He is always with you and you are never out of His care. Yes the devil, the flesh, and the world will always appose us. We are like fa fish swimming against the current. God gives some promises.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

2 Corinthians 12:9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Ephesians 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

Colossians 1:11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I have to admit, I have promised to God to do better many times and failed....I am ready to give my whole life, my whole heart, and I know I can change....but will God forgive me even though I have messed up so many times? I vow to pray to him more and rely on his strength more. I just feel he must be so disappointed in me, that I have repented before and fallen back to sin numerous times. I feel like this is the time that I can do it, I mean i know we all sin, but this time I will work harder to obey his word, I will call out to him when i need help. I will pray for him to take away my bad thoughts and to give me strength to avoid sin. I know I will never be worthy of his forgiveness, but he freely gives it and loves me right? I know Jesus died for us to take away our sins, but most people I know, when they repent their whole life changes. Mine is changing for the better but slowly and I keep messing up. I feel like a hypocrite....so wishy washy....so weak....but I choose God.....I choose to do my best to try to please God. He's not totally fed up with me is he? I need another chance. I believe he will give me forgiveness again, but I wanted to hear it from you.....from someone who knows the Bible better than I.
God loves you, that is for sure. Yes we fall short and I guess we always will. Don't believe the devils lies that God won't forgive cause we have his word to affirm that with. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John:1: 8-9.
Stop beating yourself up, I know that is easier said than done, but take it from one who has beaten herself more times than she cares to admit. There is no need.
God love s You . Yes You, with a burning passion, so much so Jesus died for you and me.
Your not a disappointment, your a precious jewel, the apple of his eye.
It was suggested to me when I felt as you do, to have a few Truth bible verses with me that I could re affirm my place with God .. Try writing those that reassure you . You will know the one's as the "spirit" will reveal them.
Don't give up or give in to Satan.
Hugs and blessings Claire.
Sharing a song I had sent to me when I felt extremely suicidal a few months back, my prayer is that it will be as much of a blessing for you as it was for me .
Your Loved remember that xx

Thank you Claire. Thank you so much. I feel better, much better. I won't give up! Thanks for your words of encouragement and for the beautiful song.

Kathy
Thank you so much. Wow I loved this song. Now I'm crying even more than when I wrote my post, but these are happy tears!!! We are so lucky to have God and to have his forgiveness. Thank you and God bless!

Kathy
Amen, I have walked with Jesus for 35 years now since I was 15. I felt like giving up more than once during that time and God brought me encouragement just like he has you. You will need to make sure you are in a good church that teaches the Bible and that are open to the work of the Holy Spirit to keep yourself from getting discouraged. I made a commitment a long time ago that no matter what I would go to church because it gives God an opportunity to minister to me through the Body of Christ. We need one another and the gifts of the Spirit that work through the people of God.
I have a wonderful church that I take a class on Tuesday nights with the workbook "Experiencing God". I have a wonderful fellowship of women in my group. I sometimes go to church Sat night, but want to start going every Sat night. Something usually comes up to stop me :p like today my window in my car totally broke and fell down into the door. I could go to the mechanic or wait until Monday. I think I will just cover it with some clear plastic and go to church!!! Don't want anything stopping me!!! I don't care what my car looks like...lol, it's a clunker anyway...lol. God bless and thank you again.

Kathy
Today I read the book of James, And I learned alot, it really opened my eyes on a lot of things that I used to questioned about. I thank God for His Word. I am a new person because of Him. When I start to doubt, I find myself or push myself to think or read God's Word...What does He say about this? I am so thankful there is a website like this. Praise God, Amen.
