Humility, Faith, and Grace: Qualities of Victorious Living, Part 2
2 Corinthians 12:9: "And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
Faith
Having considered the role of humility in victorious living in the previous section of this series, we now turn to faith. Humility leads to faith in God. Faith is one's absolute reliance upon God. By faith, one, humble enough to recognize his need for help, does not only acknowledges God as the only source of help, but trustingly relies fully on God for the help needed. An acronym for faith is F.A.I.T.H. = Forsaking All I Trust Him. Faith, therefore, gives access to the unlimited resources of the grace of God.
Genuine faith in God causes one to see God’s help as sufficient. This is well expressed in 2 Corinthians 3:4-6: "And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” When we face any challenge before us with absolute dependence upon God, this faith opens up to us the unlimited resources of the grace of God.
In the next part, we will examine grace.
