Mark 8:18 Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?
Jesus' desciples hadn’t grasped what these miracles revealed about Him.
The community doesn’t see who Jesus is either, thinking that He was a returned prophet. But when Peter utters that monumental phrase, “You are the Messiah” (Mark 8:29), Jesus’ identity is finally revealed.
We too start off blind about Jesus, gain partial sight, then finally see Him for who He really is, the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of the living God, and the One to whom we owe our lives.
I've been going to work these days not feeling so good as I move through a system that I find difficult to accept. But it's necessary that I work, I like what I do except for directives and mandated practices that I disagree with and have no choice but to follow. I am seeking God's word so I may be put in a disposition of peace and acceptance if that is His will for me regarding my work/present employment...but sadly, I have not been able to concentrate and I'm unsuccessful so far. So my mind is troubled and my heart is in turmoil whenever I relate to some of these people at work dishing out questionable directives. I am thankful God grants me the grace to forget about them when I'm off work for the day.
Judges 6:12 The Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
We too may doubt our own abilities and potential. But let us never doubt what God can do with us when we trust and obey Him. Gideon’s God is the same God who will help us accomplish all that He asks us to do.
2 Corinthians 5:9 Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.
Ephesians 5:8,9 for by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
vs9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
We become Christians through God's unmerited grace, not as the result of any effort, ability, intelligent choice, or act of service on our part. however, out of of gratitude for this free gift, we will seek to help and serve others with kindness, love, and gentleness, and not merely to please ourselves. God's intention is that our salvation will result in acts of service.
Philippians 1;23 Sometimes I want to live and at other times I don't, for I long to go and be with Christ. How much happier for me than being here!
Those who faithfully bear the cross in this life will wear the crown in the life to come.
