Psalm 16:9-11
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful[b] one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
True joy is deeper than happiness; we can feel joy in spite of our deepest troubles. Happiness is temporary because it is based on external circumstances, but joy is lasting because it is based on God's presence within us. As we contemplate His daily presence, we will find contentment. As we understand the future He has for us, we will experience joy. Don't base your life on circumstances, but on God.
Thanks for all these powerful verses and messages. All wonderful inspiration.
Romans 5:3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;
vs4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;
vs5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
The problems that we run into will develop our perseverance, which in turn will strengthen our character, deepen our trust in God, and give us greater confidence about the future. You probably find your patience tested in some way every day. Thank God for those opportunities to grow, and deal with them in His strength.
James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials.
What a wonderful message and pic about forgiveness. There was a time when I was upset at my Dad, and it took me a long time to forgive him. I prayed to God about it, and He showed me how to forgive my Dad. After that, I felt a weight lifted off of me, and happier.
James 2:1 My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism.
James presents three principles of faith:
1) Commitment is an essential part of faith. You cannot be a Christian simply by affirming the right doctrines or agreeing with Biblical facts (2:19). You must commit your mind and heart to Christ
2) Right actions are the natural by-products of true faith. A genuine Christian will have a changed life (2:18).
3) Faith without good works doesn't do anybody any good-it is useless (2:14-17).
James teachings are consistent with Paul's teaching that we receive salvation by faith alone. Paul emphasizes the purpose of faith, to bring salvation. James emphasizes the results of faith, a changed life.
We are so blessed to have each other in the Lord and share the Word and grow stronger in Him:)
The Bible tells us we must prepare ourselves spiritually. We do that by putting on spiritual armor to protect ourselves from spiritual attack (Eph. 6:10-20); by preparing our minds for holy living (1 Peter 1:13); by making sure we’re always prepared to answer questions about the reason for the hope we possess (3:15); and by ensuring that we are ready for the promised return of Jesus (Matt. 24:44).
Hebrews 11:10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
The lives of the pioneers of faith in Hebrews 11 had their share of “hairpin turns” and “humdrum” situations. But they pressed on and did not turn back. Their destination? Heaven.
Today, whether life is ordinary or difficult, keep pressing on. At the end of the journey, you will see the amazing place God has prepared for us. And it will be well worth it!
