He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. —1 John 4:8
When it comes to love, the important thing we need to know is this: All love starts with God (1 John 4:19). As Moses told the Israelites, God delighted in them to love them (Deut. 10:15), and because of that they were to love others, even strangers (v.19). God’s intent is that the people who receive His love will become the conduit of His love to others.
Very wonderful posts Chris. The Lord is our light and always there to guide us on the right path.
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
6 So we say with confidence,“The Lord is my Helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Heb 13:5-6 NIV
Here again let us consider one of these words, “love.” What do we think of, when we regard the word love? Affection, devotion or trust, passion or lust, the list goes on and on. For me when I look at verse 5 I see, Trust in The Lord. When we love we also have hope, they go together. I believe God is tells us to Trust in Him and not in money. We are His Children, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you,” and ,“The Lord is my Helper; I will not be afraid…” The word “forsake” I think of abandon, give up on, leave and so on. Let us begin to take that leap of faith and as in verse 6, we say with confidence, “The Lord is my Helper; I will not be afraid.
Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Rom 13:14 NLT
Instead, live like the Lord Jesus Christ did, and forget about satisfying the desires of your sinful nature. Rom 13:14 G W
The reason I shared the same verse in different versions was to show a point. In this verse we read “clothe” yourself with Jesus. As I pondered that word clothe, I thought of the different reasons we put on clothes. Of course, to cover ourselves. Along with what we wear, we show a certain attitude with our clothes. Both of these points are shown in the God’s Word and NLT versions. Many times we read a verse and forget to meditate on what we just have read. We also see that when we clothes ourselves with Jesus, we are given a choice. We can humble ourselves and allow His Presence to put down our flesh; do not obey our flesh and its desires. NLT tells us not to even “think about ways to indulge” What we think; ponder; meditate, on is Very Important. The choice is ours, let the world see Jesus through us or not.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
We have become one with Christ. Our Christian life began when, in unity with Him, we died to our old life.
You're welcome Marina. At times we do need reminding.
Thank you Ruth, I do need reminded constantly that things happen in Gods time not mine.
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
–Psalm 27:14
Discouragement is nothing new. Many of the great Bible characters became discouraged. Moses in the Sinai desert; Elijah when he heard Jezebel was searching for him to take his life; and David when his son Absalom rebelled against him. It is as old as the history of man.
There is often a cause for discouragement. It comes many times when we don’t get our way, when things don’t work out the way we want them to. Discouragement is the opposite of faith. It is Satan’s device to thwart the work of God in your life. Discouragement blinds our eyes to the mercy of God and makes us perceive only the unfavorable circumstances.
God's love is everlasting:)
