IMO, the exact name by which we refer to the Messiah is irrelevant, if we rely on these things then it places our faith into the realms of superstition and ritual. God reads our heart, He knows our innermost thoughts and it is this which takes priority and not our precise spoken words. With regards to the use of Yashua as being labelled as "blasphemous", then I can only assume that those making that claim are living by works and not by faith.

However, I always use the term Yeshua, but that is solely because the Greek rendition "Jesus" is commoinly used as a swear word and I therefore avoid any connotations with such practices. And I have come across the argument before though, that Yashua is the correct Hebrew to English rendition, but I wasn't convinced...if it makes any difference, I believe that Yeshua is the correct spelling.

A "false Jesus" ? No, I've never heard of it.....and I think I prefer not to

I think this is a very interesting question and one I didn't even know had been asked. I am certainly not a Hebrew scholar but after reading some articles why we shouldn't call our Lord by the name of "Jesus" thought I should check into it a little. By the way, I feel very comfortable referring to our Lord as "Jesus." I have run into some messianic Christians who will not use that name as they do not feel that is His name. Since I am not a Greek or Hebrew scholar I have to refer to the Strong's Concordance which translates in the Greek from:

NT:2424 Iesous  pronounced as (ee-ay-sooce').

This is a word derived from the Hebrew word: OT:3442 Yeshuwa` pronounced (yay-shoo'-ah).

Since I am neither Hebrew or Greek, I prefer the English name of  "Jesus" pronounced (gee - sus).

I have read that the word "Jesus" comes from the Greek god "Zeus" pronounced (zooss) but the two names sound much more familiar in English than in Greek and the claim really doesn't hold water.

I feel pretty certain that Paul and other apostles used the name "Iesous" when he wrote about Him.

We get the name from the Latin which was "Iesus." The first letter was changed around the 17th century to "J" from "I" and thus we have the English name "Jesus." Some of the old English versions of our Bible did not use the name "Jesus" but "Iesous" pronounced with an 'ee" sound instead of a "gee" sound. The English letter "J" did not exist in the Hebrew, Greek or Latin. English is the the language that has developed the letter "J" which has become a popular new sound. It replaced the "I" and "Y" in many names and words like "Jew" and "Judah." I suppose if we are going to require everyone to start calling Jesus by a different name we are going to have change a lot of words that we speak and are very familiar with.

Even though the messianic Christians prefer "Yeshua" to Jesus, I am just the opposite or should I say iust the opposite. I like this new letter "J" and I think the name sound fits. He is very much Jesus to me. However, I would not mind calling Him Yeshua but I know I got saved when I called on the name of "Jesus." He had no problem hearing me when I called on His name. Does He hear people today when they call on the name of "Jesus"? Absolutely! I'm not sure what we will call Him in heaven but I am confident that here on earth it is okay to continue to call Him "Jesus."

Is that because I am too old to change?

I have to agree with Fix You on this one with the exception that I still refer to Him as "Jesus."

I am in agreement with Roy. God knows exactly Who I worship and He is the One Who counts. If a person is studying the Bible, he knows the right Person to worship. If the name *Jesus* is a proper English translation, why would we not use it? I do not think that it is a requirement of God that we refer to Jesus by His Jewish Name.
