I am confident that neither Deborah or Hudlah aspired to a position, but rather responded to a call of God to serve Him.I'm glad you received further affirmation through this discussion of God's calling on you. "If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified" (1 Peter 4:11 NASB).
LT,
Disclaimer LOL - Below find my first responses without really meditating on the questions. :) Never an advisable thing, if I may say so myself.
1) What is a leader and what is a position of leadership in the church (i.e. Pastor, elder, Speaker, Sunday School teacher, etc)
A leader is anyone who leads by lifestyle and/or teaching. A person of influence and reputation. A position of leadership within the church can be what many view as the Ministry Gifts (Ephesians 4) and positions delegated by elders of a local Church.
2) Is woman leading recognized in Scripture as the norm factoring out extenuating circumstances?
A woman leading is never recognized in Scripture as the norm.
3) If it is not the norm, then what exactly qualifies as extenuating circumstances?
