yes, not only this healing but others, in the book of Luke as well. That story when He brought the boy back from his death and He told his parents not to tell anyone...
Jesus was very in tuned with the timing for the prophecies to come to pass that were spoken of Him and that He had to fulfill. The crowds that would gather as people found out of His ability to heal the sick would interrupt His ministry and time line, so He told some to keep silent.

He was not after being crowned King in the political sense. He came to establish His kingdom in our hearts. Next time He will established
I dont understand this...sorry lol
No prob sis.

You go to Mexico and you already have your agenda. Once you get there your family wants to tell all your other family members that you are visiting and that would mean that you would not be able to do the things you planed, so you tell them; look I am going to take you out and have a great time with you, because I had already booked you into my plans, but don't tell so and so because then I won't be able to do the things I am here to do within the period of time I have. Kind of the same thing with Jesus and His ministry.

Hope that explains it and please don't be offended by my use of Mexico. I am not Mexican myself, so I am not assuming you are. Just an illustration.

Blessings
ohhhh! ok that makes perfect sense now! and no, i was not offended lol but great illustration! thanks :)
quick question...what bible do you read??? i have never seen one referrring Jesus to Yeshua, eventhough i have heard of that on this website, just never read it in a bible...and thank you for your explanation!
oh ok, cool!
Yeshua is the Hebrew name of Jesus. Jesus is the Greek version of the name. We use "Jesus" since our new testament is written in Greek.

It is the same name as "Joshua" of the old testament; yet in English the Bible translators keep a distinction between Joshua of the conquest of Canaan and Jesus of Nazareth. But they have the same name: Yeshua. Some Bible commentators will make this point when teaching about the Exodus and the conquest of Canaan.

Note: there is no "J" sound in the Hebrew language. So Joshua and Jesus are both translations or derivations of the name Yeshua (also written Y'shua or Y'sua), for the benefit of Greek speaking world of the 1st century - when the New Testament Bible was written.
Hi Sandra,

Jesus kept his miracles 'hush' hush' after he was rejected by the pharisees.

The rejection of Jesus by the pharisees was the unpardonable sin.
The blasphemy of the Holy spirit is as we know, unforgiveable. They had seen the miracles that Jesus performed (prior to Matt 12) and had still rejected Jesus. The unforgiveable sin is unique to the Jews in Jesus' day..It is a national sin unique to that generation. For anyone to commit that sin today (in our day) it would be that they die in unbelief.

So your question is 'Why the secrecy around the miracles'.

Well.. prior to Matthew 12, Jesus was proving that HE is the Messiah...and He performed many miracles to prove His unique status as God's Son.. The Messiah! After His rejection, there was no longer any reason to prove who He was. He did miracles in secrecy for the purpose of the training of the apostles. Jesus was preparing for His own death, and He told the apostles several times that He would have to leave them....but before He left them He had to train them. Of coarse they would not have any power until Jesus left and sent the Holy Spirit to work in and through them.

The Jewish people were also very 'hung up' on signs and wonders. They did not believe the many miracles that Jesus showed them prior to Matthew, so Jesus left them to their beliefs, and ceased trying.

He states in Matthew 12:39-40 Mat 12:39 But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation craves for a [fn] sign; and yet no [fn] sign will be given to it but the [fn] sign of Jonah the prophet;

Mat 12:40 for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus' resurrection would be their final 'sign' that they might repent and believe.

Therefore,
as a result of the unpardonable sin Jesus' ministry changes.
How does the Ministry of Jesus change?
1) regarding signs, prior to the unpardonable sin, Jesus' ministry was to help the Jews make a decision for Him..To draw them close. Afterwards, His ministry purpose was to train the 12 apostles. The jews were only given one sign ...which was the 'sign of Jonah'
2) The miracles-- Before the unpardonable sin, miracles were for the masses, people were not required to have faith to be healed. Afterwards, healing was only in response to faith.. faith was needed to be healed. Miracles were for the purpose of the training of the apostles. Also, there was a Jewish custom with healings..it was a policy of silence.
3)Jesus ministry also changed regarding the message He was proclaiming. Prior to the unpardonable sin, He was offering the Messianic Kingdom to the Jews (remember this is prior to Him being rejected)
After the rejection (the unpardonable sin) Jesus forbids the apostles to tell anyone who He is (a policy of silence)
In Matthew 28, the policy of silence is recinded with the Great Commission.
4)Jesus' method of teaching changes.
before the unpardonable sin Jesus taught clearly and distinctly, afterward He teaches mostly in parables. The purpose was to hide the truth from the masses...because they had already rejected Him.

By now, the masses would have had sufficient 'light' to make a decision. They had responded incorrectly so now no further light would be given to them....much like a hardening of the heart.

Hope this helps.. Blessings, Carla

My bible study class quite often leaves my brain fried at the end of it.. ;-)... (in a good way) I LOVE it.. I love the studies that help us link things together. Scripture comes alive as we learn and understand more.. I am so blessed continually as I am learning that I don't know very much at all.. :-)
