I know you all have heard the statement "Plead The Blood of Jesus". Where is this in Scripture? Why would one have to plead this if they are already covered by His blood?

It sounds good, but it is not found in the Word used that way unless you try to draw conclusions using various verses out of context. The Word gives us two other things to rest in (besides the power and presence of the Holy Spirit). We are to put on the Armor of God and we operate in and proclaim the name of Jesus. There are plenty of direct references to His name and operating in His name found in the New Testament.
That is definitely an oldie goldie hymn. There is definitely power in His blood that saves us from the burden of sin. I've just heard folks praying before & say they plead the blood of Jesus or they tell you to plead the blood over something.
The literal smearing of the blood has no power within itself, neither is there healing by smearing oil on the forehead while praying for someone; but what was accomplished by the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ, and what it represents. Not trying to minimize the blood of Jesus, but to magnify Christ obedience to His death on the cross, this sacrifice was necessary to redeem mankind. Heb.9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission”. Your faith and obedience to God’s Word, is power enough to give you forgiveness of sin, wholeness, and eternal life. Mark 5:34, Mark 10:52, Luke 7:50, Luke 8:48, Luke 17:19, Luke 18:42. The power in the blood, means, this is what had to happen to satisfy “if you will” the claims of justice. So the sacrifice of Jesus as a propitiation for our sins, and not only ours; but the sin of the whole world. “Ro.3:25, 1Jo.2:2, 1Jo.4:10.”
So yes! There is definitely power in the “shed” Blood of Jesus.
The only power in our blood, would be if someone needed it for a transfusion to survive an operation.

Yes it does give power over the devil once someone has received the salvation. My question was why would you then plead the blood of Jesus over anything else since the blood is already there? Or is it just something that has been passed down through the generations as just something to say?
LT was right, it sounds good and religious, but I can find no justification for using it. The blood has already been shed for our benefit, salvation, which includes healing, deliverance, prosperity, "depending on how you interpret prosperity" It is a free gift to us, but a very high price was paid for it by Him. I humbly receive this precious gift. 2Pet.1:2-3, everything that pertains unto life and godliness, has been given to us "through the knowledge of Him" who has called us into glory and virtue.
Study the Word, it is a seed, and will germinate in your Spirit and soul, and bring forth riches beyond your wildest imagination. Not speaking necessarily of monetary value, but riches of the glory of God. Eph.1 says as a prayer, "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory ,would give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you might know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power to which He wright in Christ when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in heavenly places, far above all principalities, and power, and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come, and hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all thing to the church, which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all."
Your sins have been covered by the blood, why would you have to plead for it?
“Plead” Beg, He says in John 6:37 (KJV)
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. (Exodus 12:7)
I don't understand it all, but He is our Passover Lamb. By whose stripes we were healed. I'm thinking about Passover right now so that's why I'm offering this verse. Consider how important the blood was for the first Passover, the first covering. They didn't pray the blood, but where would they be without the covering of the lamb's blood? I believe we are supposed to remember what He did for us. He laid down His very life for us. He is our covering. What would we do without Him?
Love,
Mary
