Why Do So Many Fail to Spread the Gospel?
My opinion on that question is because they may want to win a popularity contest so they distort the true gospel and speak more politically correctness than what the holy word says. and or just from fear of being rejected if they boldly speak of the gospel. No one likes being rejected but look at what Jesus went through.
also I believe the true gospel isn't taught from fear of not getting the crowds and crowds can make the money pot grow and grow and grow.
my first paragraph is talking about the individuals my second is talking about some churches
Ok the feeling rejected part. But if one truly believes God loves them that much that He endured the cross for them, wouldn't they love Him back enough that rejection won't matter?
That should be the case . yes they should put the rejection fear in their back pocket and do it anyway. Actually it seems if they are full of the spirit the words should spill out by being spirit led. But what do I know except for the rejection feeling. I remember someone once said to do good with a report you must first know who or what you are reporting on. <--- something like that.
Many are trying to earn God's love. And that because they still question if He loves them. How do you share what you question?
point them to what Jesus done on the cross.... . and the price He paid . Do what some here have encouraged me to do.which is-----> instead of dwelling on self dwell on the His word.
Are you saying that you feel this way and that this is why you are uncomfortable to go and spread the gospel to your neighbors and whomever? My first thoughts are aren't we to die to self and aren't we to take captive our thoughts and think of things that are holy true and pure. Shouldn't Christians feel bad for when they sin and especially sin against their God? Isnt that a good thing? Shouldn't we when knowing we have done something wrong to fall on our faces and truly repent and then worship God? I have noticed not just here but on other sites that many Christians take it very personal when some one post a scripture verse and these verses seem to step on toes in a harsh way or it seems by the reactions. If you are hurting and feeling the things that you are mentioning then maybe you should reflect on why you are sinning against God and not trusting Him enough to not just read His word but live it. If you stumble then before you stand back up instead lay there and repent and and read of why God ask you not to do those things. Like I said before ... God First. God before anything even our feelings. I think I am actually talking to me here ..... I am learning... so if I have said somethimg that doesn't line up with Gods teaching then please show me.
No, not anymore. I did feel this way. Yes, we're to die to self, but that isn't an overnight thing. The world is a bit of a mirror into the Kingdom as well. Look at how we are born as babies into the world drinking milk and grow up to eat solid food:
1 Corinthians 3:2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it...
Hebrews 5:12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!)
1 John 2
12 I am writing to you, dear children,
because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
14 I write to you, dear children,
because you know the Father.
I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God lives in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
How does one take thoughts captive unless they have read the Word that tells them to and then have been trained of God to do so?
What are sins? How does one know what is a sin? Is smoking a sin? Some people claim being the temple of God smoking is a sin. Others will quote Matthew 15:17-18 Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body? But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and they defile the man.
If you are hurting and feeling the things that you are mentioning then maybe you should reflect on why you are sinning against God and not trusting Him enough to not just read His word but live it.
Judges 6
12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
13 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
16 The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
17 Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. 18 Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.”
And the Lord said, “I will wait until you return.”
........
22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!”
........
36 Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised— 37 look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.” 38 And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.
39 Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.” 40 That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew.
Gideon felt God had turned His back on his people (vs. 13). Even when the angel of the Lord told him he was a mighty man of valor, Gideon doubted it. He felt he was a nobody (vs. 15). So he asks for a sign (vs. 17) and it is given and he exclaims that he now KNOWS it was God speaking to him (vs. 22). Yet look on down at verses 36 and 39. When backed into a corner (Peter, you will deny me three times), Gideon asks for another sign and it is given. Still unsure, he asks for yet a third sign now...and? It's given. God knew Gideon was so beaten down, his people were beaten down...they felt defeated. Gideon trusted God up to a point. After that, he felt surely it couldn't be God speaking to him or that he wasn't worthy or that he couldn't do what God was asking because he was a nobody. Nowhere in the dialogue did God tell him he was sinning. He simply built up his low opinion of himself and his trust in God.
Do you know of any Christian in the world that accepted Christ and flew out the next day on the most dangerous mission trip and began healing everyone? Just doesn't happen. Even Paul, who had a great encounter with God, had to go off and be trained. We're told to study to show ourselves approved. Why would one need to study material they already knew? And head knowledge isn't the same as heart knowledge. If you've had bad fed into you for 30 years, don't think one reading of scripture will wipe it all out overnight.
