When we say the Word of God has one meaning. Fundamentally I would agree. Yet, when we see them as black and white, do we consider all of the shades of black and white? I am not saying The Word changes. I would say however, we do change. Our ability to understand the complete Truth; the complete meaning. As we mature from baby Christians to adults in the Lord, do we not see more as we grow? Am I mistaken to look for all of the shades, or just one?

Jesus, the Messiah, is the same yesterday and today—and forever! Heb 13:8
God replied to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," and then said, "Tell the Israelis: 'I AM sent me to you.'" Ex 3:14
As I see clearly Jesus and God do not change. They both are Everything we will ever need or require. As They are complete and therefore have no need to ever change.
As I look at this verse, I say Yes and Amen. And maybe it is only me who when faced with verse, discovers my faith still needs to mature. So I will be in the place to receive all of God’s Promises. For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the Glory of God. 2 Cor 1:20 Then when I look at this verse I see Paul’s Prayer. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, the most Glorious Father, would give you a wise spirit, along with revelation that comes through knowing the Messiah fully Eph 1:17 I do know we have the Word of God in a way they did not. To know the Messiah, and to know Him fully, do we not need revelation and a wise spirit to understand Him completely?
Chris,
There is only one true interpretation of for any given verse or passage. It always is exactly what God meant it to say for all time. Though there is only one true interpretation there can be several to numerous principles and applications found with the verse or passage. The Word never changes.
Our understanding may change, but what does that mean? There are two possibilities. 1) If our view on the text changes completely then either our first view or current view was/is wrong (or bth are wrong). Two opposing views cannot be right, but two opposing views can both be wrong. 2) We are getting a clearer view and what we first understood is now being magnified giving us a deeper understanding. In this the Word did not change, but only our understanding grew deeper and closer to the single true meaning. Often in these times what has actually happened is that we have discovered another principle or application, but these principles and applications always align with and flow from the one true meaning.
Why is there being only one true meaning so important? A couple of reasons. 1) When an author writes (in this case God) his goal is to communicate what he means and this meaning has a specific purpose to fulfill. The author does not write with the idea that he hopes people will find and develop their own meanings from what he has said. The United States finds itself in this situation now as people try to interpret the constitution the way they think it reads or should read, yet we can be sure that the authors had a specific meaning behind each article that was not meant for personal interpretation. 2) If the Word carries various meanings then we have people walking around confused. We end up with people looking at each other and expressing that the Holy Spirit revealed this meaning while another says He revealed this meaning. God is not the author of confusion and He will not ever contradict His Word.
Lastly, too often people want the easy way. Instead of becoming a disciple (student) of Jesus and the Word of God they want to simply read the Word and assume they have been given a deeper understanding. Even Paul spent three years before truly beginning his ministry and this after he had been throroughly educated in the OT.
A deeper understanding requires the Spirit of God and the Word of God working together to fulfill God's purpose.

As I had stated I believe The Word does not change. I guess I failed in trying to share how I view The Word. I do believe we are changed by The Word. As I have meditated on verses, I have seen more than I saw at first. Yet, never would those views contradict each other. As I had shared, "Jesus, the Messiah, is the same yesterday and today—and forever! Heb 13:8 God replied to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," and then said, "Tell the Israelis: 'I AM sent me to you.'" Ex 3:14 As I see clearly Jesus and God do not change. They both are Everything we will ever need or require. As They are complete and therefore have no need to ever change." Yet, from part of what you shared I sense, you think I believe The Word means what any and all readers what It to mean. When I used the example of shades, I had hoped the understanding that the meanings would not contradict one another. Or, if it is black then green would not be a shade. So for any confusion forgive my lack of communication skills.
And, yes Amen without The Spirit I would have no understanding, or any way to gain Knowledge.
Chris,
When I respond to a forum I usually have in mind all the people who may view the responses. Thus, I may add more info than what is a direct comment to the question asked in order to attempt to provide clarity to my response or to the topic at hand. I often include some of what has been my experience regarding how people believe or think on a subject. To be honest I was not evaluating what you believe in this response, but simply giving my view about the fact that a verse or passage in the Word of God can only have one true interpretation.
My goal was not to offend or upset you. If that has occured I am sorry.

I cannot imagine all the responsibility you must have. I do respect you. I was confused by a direction in your response. Yet, I understand from your response. I am still dealing with a number of things, so I recognize I took offense where there was none. It is me who needs to ask for forgiveness.
Lord Bless you Brother
Chris
