What turns people away from Christianity?

:) indeed! I have prayed.....for God to 'cause my words to stumble ...or falter' if what I'm about to say will cause harm... That prayer has been answered many times. ;)

I can't help but wonder if another reason that might turn unbelievers off about Christianity, is all the different denominations, including the christian cults in existence today. To the unbeliever it must look like we are too divided to have the truth, or at the very least, to know what we believe in.

I believe what turns people away from Christianity is that many people do not practice what they preach. On Sunday, unbelievers see the believer go to church and worship, but only to exhibit another personality when they come out of church on Sunday and live quite differently during the rest of the week. Actions speak louder than words. And, there are differing ideas of what one scripture is saying to one person and what that same scripture is saying to another person. They soon become confused, shrug their shoulders and say they do not ever want to be a Christian.

When I posted this I had the best intentions in my heart. But I have to draw the line when I get personally attacked about "my knowledge" or "lack of knowledge. This was suppose to be a friendly conversation, I don't know how the orignal question could get turned into this...I'm an optomist, this has made me very distraught. The answers I got when I spoke to people were they thought "christianity" was dull/boring/gloomy...which everybody here that are Christians knows that is the exact opposite. When it got down to it...it was lack of understanding, and misinterpretations. .
What I wanted to do was make up some pamphlet's , and I wanted input on "joy filled scripture", with other people involved I figured it would be a blessing for all who contributed scriptue.
