All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

The pastor had an awesome message from the Lord a while back & I'm sure I won't do it a bit of justice. The Scriptures was from Exodus when Moses picked up the serpent & it became a rod. He was asking what do you do with what's in your hand? Jochabed had the stalks of bulrushes & weaved them together to make a safe-haven for her son who would lead God's people out of the land of Egypt. The widow had a handful of bread & a jar of olive oil that would only last another day or so. She trusted Elijah & his God & shared her remains with him & in return fed her family & they never went hungry. David had a staff & a slingshot & became the mightest king of Israel. Gideon had a fleece & went on to conquer thousands with only a few hundred. Esther had the beauty, grace & humility God gave her & she saved a generation. A young Man had a hammer in His hand & healed a world. So, what is in your hand? Are you using it for the grace of God in the building of His kingdom? What ministry has He placed in your hands & are you using it for His glory or are you squandering it only for it to be taken from you & be used by someone else?

There is another side that can be added to this, IMO, t go along with what you have said. Some times people are two busy paying attention to what is in other people's hands to embrace and use what is in their own hands.

Good morning, Tam...

I know a guy who was a tremendous preacher. He could hold the congregation spellbound by his sermons. He was accurate in what he taught.

He then decided to go back to drug using that God had brought him out of.

Return of an Unclean Spirit
43 “When gthe unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through hwaterless places seeking rest, but finds none. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and ithe last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this jevil generation.”

g For ver. 43–45, see Luke 11:24–26
h [Ps. 63:1; Jer. 2:6]
i 2 Pet. 2:20–22; [John 5:14]
j ver. 39
The Holy Bible : English Standard Version. Wheaton : Standard Bible Society, 2001, S. Mt 12:45

When that house is clean you need to keep it occupied. Keeping it occupied means to keep it occupied with things of the Lord. I realize that this isn't what you posted, but it is an analogy of what happens when you do not do what God has given you to do. It might not be a particular thing that deals directly with God.
I have a son who is a tremendous chef. I believe he was called to do that thing. He no longer does it for a living but has gone a different route. He suffers tremendously from choosing a different route, financially as well as productively. I try to make him see that he was called to cook. Hasn't worked yet.

I just wonder why we won't believe what God tells us in His Word?

Blessings....
Rita

BTW, Tam,

I could give score of examples of people that have chosen a different route than what God chose for them. The answer is always the same...failure.
