All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am currently doing a study on the lake of fire or the second death. I would love to hear what God has shown anyone about this subject.

Yes we all have our particular calling. Some are called to suffer.

He will equip us to complete whatever he calls us to.

And we all will bow before our King acknowledging that it was his power and grace which gave us the victory.

He alone is Lord, the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of Lords (1Tim6:15)

I have read this post many times and find this to be very informative, giving rich history of that time which definitely sheds light upon the spiritual significance of what the Spirit was inspiring John to write to this church.

The Lord seems to take our situations and weave them into the message he is saying to us. I think about Peter who was given a dream about the Gentiles being received by God through a dream (Acts 10). His own physical hunger seems to have played a roll in his reception of the message that God gave him when he fell into a trance.

I love that quote you put in this post by Augustine, "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church." It is  convincing when you see someone who is willing to die for their faith and most certainly the Spirit of God and the angels were present when such atrocities happened.

I think when we endure hardships and persecutions it is a sweet odor to God.

If we suffer with him we shall also reign with him...2 Tim. 2:12

..And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution 2 Tim 3:12

2 Thes. 1:4-5 speaks of suffering persecutions and tribulations in order to be counted worthy of the kingdom of God.

The trial of our faith is much more precious than gold and sometimes there is a need on our part to experience the sufferings of such trials in order for our faith to be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

God has a purpose in all suffering he allows. He wants to refine us like pure gold tried in the fire that we might produce a sweet fragrance to him as we are being brought down to the death of our own despicable will.

I agree that the crown of life is the reward for the faithful. Many will make it to heaven with no crown, barely making it in, saved by the very fire, and having their flesh destroyed that their spirit might be saved. How horrible. I hope that there will be opportunity to continue to grow when they realize what was forfeited.  This is probably the tears that Jesus will wipe away.

There is more I want to say about your post but I have to get ready for an early day at work. Blessings to you for a wonderful day in the Lord and thanks so much.

Some people get the idea that the Bible translated words like tartarus, gehenna, hades and sheol into hell and that hell doesn't actually exist as the lake of fire it's been translated into.

But I have no idea where anyone could get that conclusion when they read the story of Lazarus and the rich man.  ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

It sounds enough like hell that I don't want to go there for sure!!!
