Greetings all,
I am starting this forum based on another one that has gotten quite a bit of attention.
The questions are:
"What is a false teacher according to Scripture?"
"What qualifies as false teaching?"
There are some rules for this forum. We will only accept the basics. I will not accept any post that is a posting of some website that is out there. In most cases that is not research, but rather a hunt for an article that agrees with one's already held position (everyone is guilty of this from time to time, so don't be offended by this comment).
What will be allowed:
The Word of God
Older commentaries (used sparingly)
Concordance
Personal view on the subject attempting to articulate from Scripture why you believe this to be true.
What will not be allowed:
Cut and paste web articles (as already mentioned)
Names of people you think are false teachers (lets focus on what it is, not examples at this point)
Name calling or what appears to be personal attacks
Many today want to be teachers so let's do some old fashion research on the topic and shy away from parroting what someone else believes.
Lord Bless,
LT

WOO HOO! I'll go first! And? I'm only going to use scripture:
2 Timothy 2:8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel,
2 Corinthians 11:14 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
2 Corinthians 11:14King James Version (KJV)
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Yes, Identifying false teachers is not an easy task. They will be revealed through comparing their teaching with Scripture. An generation that is Biblically illiterate will be easier to deceive.
When does this gospel become a different gospel?
Excellent. Would you like to elaborate on the false teachers and their teachings found in Scripture?
Jeremiah 23 [all of it pretty much], speaks, I believe to those who are false teachers/Shepherds.
I started to post Isaiah 30:10, but that is speaking to those who follow those who tell us the smooth and pleasant things and don't want to hear the hard truths.
1 Timothy 6:3-5
3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
