Christ became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Through his sacrifice, we are able to enter heaven. Entry wasn't available to us before His death and ressurection. As in the story that He gave us in Luke regarding Lazarus and the rich man, at death the rich man went to Hades while Lazarus rested in Abraham's bosum.
God started sacrifices in old testament times but those sacrifices for healing were temporary. With Christ giving His life to save ours, the sacrifice is permanent. There is nothing that needs to be done but to accept what Christ did as He went to the cross for us.
Hope this gives you clearer understanding Stacey. Blessings to you.

It means God made a way for us to come back to him after the fall in eden . See,, we once were created spirit filled (with a God consiousness ) in the garden but after the temptation and fall into sin that supernatural connection with the creator was severed and God made a way for us to come back to him and be restored to him through Jesus' redemptive work on the cross.Amen Thats what the cross means Stacey :)
