All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

We do not know the hour, but may know the cause of the end times

We have a guy in our Sunday School class who is very smart (but I won't tell him that or it will go to his head).  LOL

Jeff is always pointing out some very interesting ideas.  And this Sunday, he brought one to the table that I find very interesting.

He says we know that 1/3rd of the angels fell from heaven with satan.  And he states that there is always a balance in heaven (though I cannot recall his outline of this and why, but he did give reference to it).

So his thought is that the end times will not occur until enough are saved to make up for the 1/3rd of those that fell from heaven, to fill the gap.  He said we don't know what 1/3rd represents, a billion, trillion, whatever number, but that he believes an equal number will have to come to Christ before Jesus will return.

Interesting for me anyway.  Thoughts?

Sorry, nah. No thoughts on that one.

I get it.  You were just replying so you could keep track?  LOLOL  I need to remember that.  I just email myself a link and check back.

yep

Check out Zechariah 13:8-9. He might be on to something :)

Man, I would say I'm gonna show this to Jeff Sunday, but my guess is he already knows it.  LOL

I have a vivid and expansive imagination. One lesson I have had to learn is to keep focused on the main and plain things in scripture. There are specific warnings against getting off track into odd doctrines. I wouldn't put one more thought into this line of thinking; it cannot benefit, will not increase our faith nor deepen your relationship with God.

Furthermore, God tells us that His purpose for His mercy to mankind is that He is merciful, not because he "needs us to replace" any one or anything.

One more point is that we will be elevated above the Angels, judging them. We will not be peers.

Oh I haven't been thinking on this and it's not a concern either way. I just found it a very interesting hypothesis. And given the verse Amanda posted, possibly not so much hypothesis. It doesn't make any difference as we can never know here if it's true or what that number may be but it is a fascinating concept.

As for peers or God's mercy....

This idea is that they refill heaven with the number lost and not their positions. It's not saying they take the place of the angels but fill the gap in numbers.

And it doesn't affect mercy. If the number was a billion and a billion accepted Christ by the year 1800, the earth would have ended there...no more births to be merciful to. If a billion didn't accept Him until the year 3000, then it ends there. So I don't see it affecting His mercy.
