Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.” And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.” Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

It is not voided out or extricated from the 10 commandments. Not one of those commandments has changed or been nullified. They will stand, every jot and every tittle.
Right you are Watchman, they will never be nullified, BECAUSE THEY ARE WRITTEN ON YOUR HEART, NOT ON PAPER that you should have to read them, to see if you are following every jot and tittle. If you should happen to break any one of them, you are guilty of them all. Do you believe that what is a sin for one person, is sin for everyone else?
There are those that has sin categorized that is, dancing, smoking, drinking, etc. etc.
What say you?

Seek you must have been going to the same church I went to. Lol
When I was young in children’s church, then in CA’s “Christ Ambassadors”
I remember when my sister went to another girl’s house after church for lunch, they went swimming, girls only, they couldn’t have mixed bathing at that time. But she came to church that evening with her hair down, and of course the preacher had to remind my mother that she need to keep her hair done up, no bobby pens, unless they were plastic. Not w/w word, but the same idea. We couldn’t go on a pick-nick, it had to be an outing, wasn’t supposed to drink anything that was habit forming, no picture shows, “now movies” no short sleeves for women, long dresses, long hair, but done-up, and no scissors to the hair, and on and on it went. All based on, I think 1Pet3:1… This was Pentecostal religion, not of the Spirit. It shows that we can have a form of godliness, but are missing the Spirit of the whole plan of redemption, sanctification, wisdom, righteousness, which is all wrapped-up in Christ. People today are still trying to be holy, and righteous by adhering to a set of rules and regulations written, 430 years after the promises were given to Abraham, to show mankind that they were not as righteous as they thought. Ro.10: tells us that, “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.” The biggest problem I see is, that seems there are a lot of people, and preachers, wanting to do right, but struggling with the laws of God, as it says in Ro. 10:3.” for they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, going about to establish their own righteousness; has not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.” Christ is so hard for some to comprehend, Christ is not the last name of Jesus, it is an “epithet” of Him. They seem to have only one meaning for the Word “Christ.” (Jesus was “THE CHRIST”) the only one anointed to make the ultimate sacrifice for the sin of the world.
Could go on and on, but must stop, for this Christ is a subject that needs to be studied more extensively by everyone claiming to be a Christian.

Church of God members are expected to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs; they avoid foul language and ungodly amusements such as are common in modern movies and TV shows. The Church of God also encourages moderation in makeup, jewelry, perfume, and elaborate hairstyles.
Good to reminisce now and then, isn’t it? Makes one appreciate the freedom we have in Christ. I have told others that I, as a Christian, have more freedom than they, because I can do what I want, and not be ashamed of it. If one is guided by the Holy Spirit, he will be led by peace, and have a clear conscience, and will not be condemning himself. Ro.8, there is therefore now no condemnation for them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Seek, I went to the "got questions .org." and read through that whole segment, Yes they do need to update their , not only information, but their theology. They would have a hard time convincing me that tongues, and divine healing, would be questionable in the church.
I believe the whole argument about which day is the Sabbath is unnecessary. Saturday or Sunday does not matter as long as whatever day we choose to pick we honor God as he would have us honor him. Some discussion is simply designed to separate us from each other. Like the left hand telling the right hand, " I'm way better than you". We need both hands as a "body" just as we need to be unified in the Church body.
:-) jm
Amen Brother and thank you for your candor.
Your Brother in Christ,
journeyman
@ Journeyman - Unified in the Church Body doesn't mean leaving the Truth. I would rather be un-unified and in Truth than together with a false Truth.
Not sure where the left hand telling the right hand...I'm way better than you has anything at all to do with keeping the Sabbath. That was speaking of good deeds and doing good.
The 4th Commandment has not been abolished or changed. If it has, then please provide Scripture and Truth.
You consider it unnecessary to discuss which day is the Sabbath? Why? Why do you believe it unnecessary? If we were having an "argument" about murder would you deem that unneccessary too?
Is it us we believe that "deem" which commandments are more important than the others? Or is it God who esteems ALL of His commands to be of equal importance.
Sorry, this is just so bizarre to me.
