All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Why Are churches and congregations still think that it doesn't matter which day you worship the lord on?? Is it because they are blinded by self-righteousness or just plain arrogance??
One of the Lord's Commandments is, Not forget the sabbath, and to Keep it Holy. So why will they obey some of the commandments, yet disobey others??
It is by who keeps the Sabbath, that God will know who his children really are.
I would like to know what others think about what I have written.

It is something that I cam looking into. According to the Bible, the sabbath is actually Saturday because He made the heavens and the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th day (Sunday being the first). I attend worship service on Sundays (like everyone else), but I want to see if either day is really relevant. God Bless!
The 'highest sabbath'? Is that the same thing?..Im sorry I am not familiar with the term.
John 4:21-26

21Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

25The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us."

26Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he."

-----> from what i understand it doesn't matter to Christ where or when you worship him as long as you worship in Spirit and in Truth. If you think it best on a sunday, so be it or saturday or any day... woship is 24/7

Here's an interesting verse i found that still mystifies me. Its about Naaman strange request regarding worship and how God through Elisha words accepted it
check it out
2 Kings 5:15-19 (The Message)

15 He then went back to the Holy Man, he and his entourage, stood before him, and said, "I now know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no God anywhere on earth other than the God of Israel. In gratitude let me give you a gift."

16 "As God lives," Elisha replied, "the God whom I serve, I'll take nothing from you." Naaman tried his best to get him to take something, but he wouldn't do it.

17-18 "If you won't take anything," said Naaman, "let me ask you for something: Give me a load of dirt, as much as a team of donkeys can carry, because I'm never again going to worship any god other than God. But there's one thing for which I need God's pardon: When my master, leaning on my arm, enters the shrine of Rimmon and worships there, and I'm with him there, worshiping Rimmon, may you see to it that God forgive me for this."

19-21 Elisha said, "Everything will be all right. Go in peace."
Jesus was a Jew and followed everything perfectly and that's I think some of the things Jews celebrated and did we still suppose to be doing like sabbath on Saturday. The only thing with me I don't understand how Saturday came to be on Saturday instead of Sunday? Another thing did you know that the morning and evening make one day? Genesis 1:5 "God called the LIGHT day and the darkness he CALLED night. And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day." As for the highest sabbath I think you might be referring to the sabbath laws which is the exact same thing but within years...on the seventh year they're suppose to let the land rest without plowing or using anything in it. Exodus 23:10
i too am with you littlesheep88! i attend on Sundays but have heard some sermons that are making me question this. i really want to find an anwer.
Did you know that there are in fact 7 Holy days decreed by God in the Old testament that was actually meant to describe to us His master-plan? Did you also know that Jesus Himself honoured each and every one of them? Another interesting fact to note is that the early Church as was formed and founded by Christ and further developed by the Apostles also honoured these Holy days and encouraged their followers to also keep them Holy!
They are as follows:
1) Passover as commanded in Lev 23:5 and observed by Jesus, the Apostles and the church in Matt 26:2 & 17-19; Mark 14:12-16; Luke 2:41-42, 22:1 & 7-20; John 2:13, 23, 6:4 & 13:1-30; 1Cor 11:23-29. This is the best known and obviously points to Christs death for our sins and his ressurection.

2) Feast of Unleavened Bread commanded in Lev 23:6-8 and observed in Matt 26:17; Mark 14:12; Luke 2:41-42 &
22:1 & 7; Acts 20:6; 1Cor 5:6-8. By observing this holy day it helps us realize out need for Christ's help in overcoming our weeknesses.

3)Feast of Pentecost commanded in Lev 23:15-22 observed in Acts 2:1-21 & 20:16; 1Cor 16:8. This holy day serves as an annual reminder that our Creator still works miracles, granting His Spirit to the firstfruits of His spiritual harvest (His followers) empowering them to carry out His work in this world.

4)Feast of Trumpets commanded in Lev 23:23-25 observed in Matt 24:30-31; 1Thes 4:16-17; Rev 11:15 (here I should note that this Holy day was not mentioned by name in the New Testament, but the theme of the day - the sounding of trumpets announcing Jesus's return - is mentioned by several New Testament authors. this holy day symbolises the start of the most wonderfull era in the history of the Earth: the millenial kingdom of Christ.

5)Day of Atonement commanded in Lev 23:26-32 observed in Acts 27:9. gives the picture of the loving reconciliation we have with God, made possible for us by his Son's sacrifice and it that the author of sin, Satan, will eventually be removed so that we can at last recincile with God on a universal basis.

6)Feast of Tabernacles commanded in Lev 23:33-43 observed in John 7:1-2, 8, 10 & 14; Acts 18:21. When the Israelites observed this feast, they left their homes ans errected temporary dwellings to live in while rejoicing before God. these reminded them of their release from slavery and their dwelling in these "booths" or tents, if you will, when God brought them out of Egypt. this feast then, serves as a reminder of our own salvation from the slavery of Satan.

7)Last Great Day or eighth day commande in Lev 23:36 observed in John 7:37-38. points to the final judgement of the Great White Throne and by which time all will finally know and declare that the Lord is exactly who He says He is: Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End the GREAT I AM.

Note the absence of Christmas? That is because we are nowhere in the Bible instructed to keep the day of Christ's birth holy. It is a man made holiday which absurdly enough fall over the same time period as a pagan festival that was in ancient times held over the winter-solstice to commemorate The Day of the Invincable Sun. Through many years and ages different gods or deities were honoured during this time. What is of interest is that all God's Holy Days are arranged around planting and harvesting seasons in tne northern hemisphere (which is where Israel is, of course) and none of them falls in the winter time!

These Holy Days are, of course, over and above the Sabbath, which should be kept HOLY.
I agree I actually found this out myself but wish people would explain the true origin of a holiday that we celebrate instead of passing it down and don't know where it originated from. Jeremiah 10:2 "Do not learn the ways of the nation". With everything else i'm not sure if we still suppose to celebrate these because back then in these festivals they sacrificed because they sinned but Jesus died as a sacrifice for all of our sins. Hebrew 10:11 "Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God."
The problem with the Church's confusion is that it lost its moorings in the Jewish faith. We are ingrafted to Judaism, not the other way around. We have adopted a GREEK not Hebrew worldview and we have drifted away from the real Yeshua. We renamed him, gave him a different ministry and even a different religion in an effort to distance ourselves from Israel. All of this began from the first century and has continued up until this time. Fortunately, some theologians, post Holocaust, have seen the egregious errors that the Church has made and are working toward a better understanding of the Church and its relationship to the Israel of God and the God of Israel. The theology prevalent in most Christian churches is a theology called supersessionism...big topic lots of research, but its out there and it may shock you...
I try to keep the sabbath from sunset friday until sunset saturday for it is one of the ten commandments. During this time I make an extra effort to keep my mind on God,worship Him,and avoid any unnecessary activity. I try to attend Church on sunday. If my church held services during the sabbath it may be located close enough to my house to attend. I believe the traditional observance of the sabbath can be broken as the Lord exeplified in the New Testament.
yes, we do try to keep the sabath the same way you do, friday sunset to saturday sunset, we Focus on God, and avoid unnecessary activity, especially the worldly kind, it is our Sabath rest.Although we do not attend any church, we do these because we adhere to the teaching of Mathew in Chapter 5 verses 17-20 were Jesus says even when earth dissappears, the Law will not, and that unless our rightousness surpasses that of the Pharisess, we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. we do this because it is a very small thanksgiving gift to acknowledge in Deed that God is our Creator and our Supreme Being.... our God.
Even Jesus and the disciples observed the Sabath, the Commandments have not been ammended...
In the New Testament the deciples were criticized for gathering food from the field on the sabbath likewise Jesus Christ was criticized for healing the sick on the sabbath
