God keeps bringing me back to this scripture. It is in The Revelation. Chapter 21.
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea.
That is something that most folks over look in my oppinion. I hear so much of " well, when we get to heaven" I dont believe heaven is our final destination. I believe that it will be like the original Adam and Eve days. Where they walked with God and saw his face and no sin, just love. What are your thoughts? Scriptures welcome...lol jk

Brooke,
When one takes a look at the present heavens, we do see much beauty but it is obviously one that is wearing down. God did not create this universe to be eternal. All around, we see decay. The law of thermodynamics or entropy is that order proceeds to disorder. The Bible believer believes that God's creation was very good but not eternal. As the universe gets older (today it is very young) it progresses into disorder. Of course God could reverse this but promises an even greater one that will apparently not have the same laws as the present one.
The death of stars or supernovas happen in our universe with regularity. If the star is large enough, it creates massive black hole which are highly destructive. Black holes are so powerful that not even light itself is able to escape its grasp. Any star or even galaxy coming to close are instantly gobbled up and cease to exist.
Our universe is a violent one. Eventually, a large enough meteor will undoubtedly collide with our beautiful earth bringing massive damage or even destruction. It appears to me that God did not create this universe to be eternal but to last just long enough to accomplish the purpose for its creation and that is to get the family that He yearns for.
The promise, as you have eluded to here, to a new heaven and a new earth is a promise made to those who are listening to His voice. This one will be quite unlike this first one in which we live. The death and destruction that awaits us in this one, will be gone. In this one I don't believe there will be stars or suns. The freezing cold temperatures that exist outside of the warmth of our earth's atmosphere will be gone. What it will be like can only be speculated upon but whatever it will be will be beyond anything we have seen. Looking out into the heavens gives one an amazing and awesome feeling of the greatness of our God. Yet, God tells us that His next work will far exceed this one. The description of the New Jerusalem defies anything within the grasp of our imaginations.
Brook, what it will be like is, well, impossible to describe. I'm with Veronika on this one - "Where ever and what ever heaven is I want to be there." Amen to that!
