Just Do It
I just read a devotion that can be like a good smack upside the head:
It stated that religion is dangerous and would rather debate an issue than do something about it. They said we shouldn't get you sidetracked into a religious debate or get all hung up on theological questions. That the difference between religion and the love of God is that religion argues while love acts.

It's not that she is not being heard. It's the fact that I cannot overlook other areas just for the sake of a point of view. I mean, I guess I could had like I do most of the time. But she did kinda bring me in saying I couldn't disagree with any of it. I believe Amanda may have said it correctly when she said, '"she's being misled by the tagline "Just do it."'

Perhaps this bit of info will help readers to be able to identify the main idea of a text, article, story, etceteras. The main idea is never found in the title or heading or the paragraph of introduction. Those things only lead into the main idea.
An example is the story, Old Yeller. It's about a dog, but the main idea is found in what the writer wants the reader to understand as being important throughout the whole of the writing.
What is the main idea? To get it involves looking at all the information, grouping that information into parts, or categories, and then combining all of those parts.
Most writers never clearly come out and state the main idea, and an important thing to remember is that what a person already knows and believes will influence what that person perceives as being the main idea in anything that person reads.
What you are looking for is where emphasis is being placed because that will be the main message of the writing.
In this writing there is information about religion, healing, deliverance, Abrahamic covenant, religious debates, demons, location of demons, someone who is a "blood brother" who has a demon, the statement that such a one "ought to be free", getting that person free, the love of God, choosing love over religion.
Just do it isn't the main idea here. Delivering a blood brother in the Name of Jesus because such a one should be freed and you CAN DO IT is the main idea.
Do you see that emphasis in Copeland's article?
PS Readers often disagree about the main idea of a text. Yet, everyone is always surprised when there are disagreements about biblical text. Still, discussion is sooo important. -

To clarify, I'm not agreeing with the main idea of the article (just explaining it) and I don't consider the article to be very truthful or to have much truth mixed into it. Even religions outside of Christianity have some real truth mixed into them. I think that is what distracts people and adds to the danger of believing a lie. Half truths are still lies. Copeland is saying that it doesn't matter where the demon is. Thus, he is saying there isn't a difference between oppression and possession. Thus, a demon that's driving a blood brother up the wall fits under the category of possession.

I don't disagree with "Religion argues, Love acts", but I do disagree with the premise that a blood brother in the Name of Jesus can be possessed by a demon.
How can a born again believer indwelt by The Holy Spirit be possessed by a demon?
Are there any instructions in the bible for casting out a demon of a believer?
Believers are told to 'resist the devil, and he will flee', but I don't know anywhere where it says we (as born again believers) are to cast him out... I think it's because it's not possible for us to be possessed simply because we are indwelt by The Holy spirit.

God's freedom is so beautiful.. and one of the things that sets us apart from non-believers is that we have been set free and now have The Holy Spirit...where we did not before we were saved. It's a beautiful thing. However, we're also aware that we are always to stay on the alert.
1 Peter 5:8 reminds us: 8Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
Ephesians 6:13 tells us 13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
God gives us all we need to resist the enemy to stand firm... How Glorious!
Freedom is a beautiful thing, and it is special to God's children....only those who have repented and believed will be given The Holy Spirit, and Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. Glory!
