Our Adversary majors in three things: noise, hurry and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in "muchness" and "manyness," he will rest satisfied. ~Richard Foster
Pro 14:31 Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who help the poor honor him.
Living in tune with Creation
Mic 6:6 With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
Mic 6:7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Mic 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
What does this mean for us?
Gen 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
Mat 25:40 And the King will tell them, `I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, [fn] you were doing it to me!'
Jam 2:8 Yes indeed, it is good when you truly obey our Lord's royal command found in the Scriptures: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
This conversation is for all of us who are living in these rich parts of the world. Our choices affect others on the planet. What can we do? We are our brothers keeper!
I was shocked to see this video today...I hope and pray that we can come up with some ideas in our personal lives that will affect a change...now that we know!
We are to honor God By Loving the Needy, and to take care of the earth.
Please come up with some ideas with me..and post them here. What can each of us do in our personal lives?
We are all accountable to God....We must each do our part.
I took the time to watch the long video, and encourage others to do the same. It made a lot of sense. The value of it is only beneficial if it leads us to change in both our personal life (consumption) and encourages us to action relating to the national and world stage. I will ponder both areas seeking to make a difference.
Indeed ...this is to get us thinking. As Christians we need to be aware of what our culture is teaching us...and our kids. If we are not careful we will just be carried along for a ride, completely unaware of the damage which is being done.
So I posted this in hopes that it will cause us to stop and pause....and force us into conscious thought in light of Jesus' teaching.
We are told that more is always better....but the truth is....it depends what it is.
I am hoping to start a discussion on practical ways that we can live as Jesus calls us to: Love freely, Live simply, Give generously and tell as many people as possible about Jesus.
