All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Greetings all,

Jared has brought up something that, at least I have become lax on and that is the difference between a forum and a blog.

Forums and Blogs: Forums are for asking questions and for sharing a response to a question someone has posted. This is a great opportunity for “iron to sharpen iron.” Blogs are for posting an opinion, view or specific message regarding a subject.

We will be more diligent at getting people to post in the right format. This will not be applied retroactively.

Also there have been cases of duplication where the same info/comment is posted in both the forums and the blogs. Based on the content we will delete the one that seems out of place.

Hey Michelle,

I am confident if we were to sit down and discuss our beliefs we would find we are in agreement on most things and differ only on a few secondary issues. Thank you for the kind words.

Sometimes its hard to know what’s the best way to express one’s thoughts or ask a question. Hopefully, the guidelines below will help steer you in the right direction.

Blogs – Blogs are the place to let others know your thoughts on issues important to you, tell what’s been happening in your life, keep a daily (public) journal, or to share a devotional thought. Instead of sending group messages to your friends, write it in a blog instead. That way you’ll not be guilty of spamming and your friends will still be able to know what’s going on with you.

Forums – Forums are places to ask questions! If you are wondering about some issue and want to get a question answered or feedback from other members, creating a forum is the best way to do this. Avoid using forums to write up a devotional thought or to make a statement. Don't use forums for prayer requests: please use TheNET Prayer Room instead. The best forums always ask a question. Ask it and be prepared for some good interaction!

Groups – Groups are the place for many members to focus on a common interest, activity or broad, overarching issue. Some good examples of groups are “For Women Only”, “In the Beginning” and “Homeschooling…” Each of these groups are organized around a broad purpose and then contain a number of forums on a variety of topics pertaining to that purpose. If you want to start a group, some words of advice… Keep it fresh by updating the content regularly and by messaging group members when there is new content. Make every effort to make each member contribute regularly to the group in some way. Inactive groups, those that do not have any activity for 30 or more days, run the risk of being deleted. Please do not start a group if you merely want to post a devotional thought or ask a question. Use blogs or a forum for that.

Before you start a group, we recommend you send a message to Moomins , our Groups Moderator, and let her know about what you are thinking. She can provide helpful advice to make the experience with your group worthwhile.

Note: drilling into the Forum tab you will find a Category named: TheNET Network Support - FAQs

You will find very useful information there.
