Struggles, Trials, Sickness, disease, Broken Relationships.. etc.. the list goes on...
Jesus never promises an easy life.. He promises just the opposite. He tells us that we will have many trials in this life... He tells us to 'take heart' in those struggles because He has overcome the world.
We are told that the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. What if we don't believe that He has really overcome the world? Do we really believe the foolishness of the message of the cross?
Do you believe Him? How has this panned out in your life?
How has God proven Himself faithful in your life in the midst of these things?
What does it mean to 'trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on our own understanding? What does it mean to acknowledge Him in all our ways? What does it mean that He will make our paths straight? (proverbs 3:5,6)
This is such a small passage in scripture.. but so much hangs in the balance of it.
If Jesus has overcome the world, doesn't that mean that He can overcome your life?
He has already saved you if you have received Him as Savour.. Let Him be Lord.
Maybe you feel really let down by God.. abandoned.. God wants us all to get to the point of trusting in Him over our feelings.

Carla,
If I am troubled, I recite these verses over and over again. The more I say them, the calmer I get. I strive to do as God would have me do, and everything else falls into place. It is when I try to move without God that I fail.
I try to rely on Christ more and more. I try not to speak negatively about anything. I've always been a positive person, but am striving to become more so. The more positive I speak the less things bother me. I stay away from news broadcasts. Funny thing, I didn't know there was a Hurricane Irene or an earthquake on the east coast until 4 days after they happened!
Blessings,
Rita
I see Pro 3:5 as no matter what we see "own understanding" our trust is in the Lord. We hold to that trust, in the face of what is going on around us.
The thing about feelings and emotions, we can not control how they come to us. Nor are we wrong when thry come. A smell, a word, a face, etc., can all trigger feelings and emotions, so many other things to. OUr past experience are all so different. So we handle the same things differently. Belief, faith, etc., are not based on feelings or emotions but, on a decision to trust, faith grows and we become stronger
Is life easy? not a chance.
I find when bad things happen, at least what I think is bad, I try to fix it myself first. Usually it doesn't take long for me lay it at the foot of the cross and ask God to take care of it. It's nice to know that I can take my troubles to God. That doesn't mean I stop trying. It means whatever the outcome, I'm OK with it.
I wonder if we sometimes look for the BIG things and in doing so miss the little things. Case in point.
My wife and I went to ship some things to a Pastor in India. The cost of shipping was more than the items we shipped. The teller felt bad about the cost so I tried to make her feel better and said, " Don't worry about it, it will come back 10 fold". We returned home and got the mail. We found a letter that said my sons oral surgery would be paid in full. The amount.........10 times the amount of the shipping. Could this be just a coincidence? Maybe. But look at it as a sign that God is watching over us.
Another case in point. Several weeks ago I had a fleeting thought about getting baptized. Days later, I thought of it all day. That Sunday the sermon was on.........................you guessed it..........................adult baptism. I decided to get baptized. My wife told me later that my mother never had me baptized. Coincidence? NOT!
We need to understand, pruning hurts, but it is worth it. I know it's hard to feel good about bad things, maybe we shouldn't worry so much about how we feel. Maybe we should just know that when bad things happen, God will be beside us. He wants us to lean on Him. Maybe when things aren't getting better as soon as we think they should, God is still teaching us something. Maybe He is just trying to help us gain trust and faith in Him. Maybe God is prepairing us for some other event to come in our life. Maybe He is using us and how we react to teach others.
I don't know Gods plan. I guess I'm glad I don't, It would take all the suprise out of life.LOL. But I wonder if we need to stop worrying about how we are or aren't feeling God. Seems to me that by doing so we are wondering whats in it for me. We get salvation, now it's time to serve him and take our mind off of what did I get out of it. I think if we would spend our time thinking about serving Him we will FEEL God and know that He is.
Sorry if this went on to long.
Amanda, There is nothing wrong with you, Carla is spot on. I pray that God will stir your heart and fill you with His Spirit and send his angels charge over you. May his light shine upon you and give you peace.
