All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Ok, we're suppose to preach the message of the cross. But, how can the cross be preached when certain people deny Jesus died on it and view it as pagan? I don't want to say torture stake like they say-I'll be lieing and denying something very importent.

I think I heard just say He died on a tree but that seems difficult, could that work though?

What do I do if they ask if I believe in the cross or torture stake?

How can I preach something so importent when they're taught by their religion to view the cross as taboo?

For denying he died on it - I'd start with the evidence. Did Jesus really die on the cross and was he really raised from the dead?

For it being pagan - ask them for evidence to support that conclusion.

For calling it a "torture-stake" - they're not actually far wrong historically. Crucifixion was essentially death by asphyxiation (as has been demonstrated by various medical examiners and journals) It was not a nice way to go.

Following that, you're well into theological and philosophical territory on why Jesus had to die in the first place

It absolutely was torture. Whether they believe it or not is not something you can have control over. You plant the seed & leave the rest to the Lord. All you can do is share them the Word & the truth.

So, leave it up to Jesus-that sounds good! But, planting a seed of truth? I need to know something. What can I do when they have a corupted bible (which they're told not to read alone/small groups) and if that contridicts their religion they'll be convinced because they have watchtowers (which they read more than the bible anyway). The watchtowers is part of the brainwashing method.

Like I seen on another discussion you were on, and what I think the Holy Spirit has helped me learn-a good weapon is love. Show the love of Christ.

Girl, the Lord can do anything but if you're speaking of Jehovah's Witness, you're almost fighting a losing battle. Whether my reply sounded good or not, it is what it is. I can't give you some kind of magic formula. All you have is the unadulterated truth of Christ. When you know the truth, doesn't matter how studied up they are, anything held up to the Light cannot stand.

Thanks. There's hope, nothing's impossible with God. There's even elders who's been convicted by the Holy Spirit and saved by grace. Have to have faith in God, hope for them and show them unconditionalChristlike love.

There's a verse that is comforting. Romans 8:28.

Sister :give you Christ like hugs: thanks for trying to help. Atleast it won't always be like this; Rev. 21:4. One day we will be in heaven and Satan won't be able to hurt us.

There was a couple I went to church with, a young couple. She was born again being freed from the JWs. Her daddy died & she felt like an outcast at his funeral because all of her family was JW. Now, we her church, was there for her. Probably 150 of us showed up to support her. I guess it wasn't the same as her family. She returned to JW. I was asking about them the other day & they are actually still married but the couple barely even speak to each other. They just survive. JWs can get put something on you that battery acid can't burn off. But, absolutely, all things are possible with God.

I can pray for her, is there a nickname that way it'll be easier to remember who I'm praying for?

I see it this way. God puts certain people in our lives for His own special reasons. Maybe, even if we don't know it He will use the fruitage the Holy Spirit shows through us and the love of Christ to impact someone, possibly a JW's life one of these days.
