Hu? Dude (Misty) what in the world? :)
>>I really would like you to get rid of the notion in your head that God controls every moment of our lives.
He knows the number of hairs in my head and not even a sparrow falls without His knowledge. You are correct at saying that God does not control every moment of our lives in the since we are not robots, we have the ability to choose due to the liberties God has granted us. However before the foundation of the earth He already knew how it would all play out because is according to His pleasure how things play out and He had already decided when He would intervene and when He would not in our lives by allowing our choices or frustrating them. So God is in control and micro manages all things on Earth. Some believe He does not micro manages, but I am not among those people. Nothing in the universe happens without His knowledge, His permissive will or His decretive will.
>>If this were true then why do people die from accidents, natural disaster etc?
How does your statement prove God is not in control of every moment of our lives?
I am truly trying not to be overly critical, but... I am concerned with you biblical views and I am certain that so is LT and Carla (admin). I understand the differences so far as I see them are in secondary issues, from what the word teaches and what you believe.
Blessings bro.
David,
First of all my eyes are misty thinking where the human race is headed and people living without God in their lives.
Secondly, this thread may look confusing because what Amanda an I are talking about started with one of my comment in one of her blogs.
Well she asked why God doesn't get involved in our every day lives and I explained to her about original sin. Please go back and see the thread for more clarity.
Thirdly, I'd like to ask you if God was indeed in control of minute by minute lives then why do accidents, death etcc happen to us? I am saying that this is a natural process. God is not in total control of our lives, we are. This is why people, if they choose to, can give over their life to satan if they wish.
Blessings.
LB,
Here is a quote from John McCarthur.. short and sweet:
"Now here we are introduced to this interesting family, one husband and two wives. In those days, you recognize the fact that polygamy was a part of culture. It was a part of the custom of certain societies and although it is never promoted in the Scripture, it is never approved in the Scripture, and although it always, every time it appears in the Bible brings about heartache and pain and agony and judgment, still God was patient in overturning the culture, as the priority was to communicate the basis of His saving Word. That is not unlike many cultures today where missionaries go where polygamy exists and polygamy is down the list of priorities for them. First, they must get the people to make a commitment to God and then begin to instruct them in God's principles for marriage. "
LB,
People have different motivations for typing the responses as they do...and spending much time to prove their point. I don't need to be right on this...but I will tell you that I am not in agreement with you. We each need to check our motivations before the Lord before posting.
One thing I want to acknowledge is this:
And Bro. McCarthur does not seem to have done his research at all by inferring that polygamy is a thing of the past when he says, "in those days, you recognize the fact that polygamy was part of culture" when some 85 percent of the world’s societies are polygynous (the form of polygamy we are talking about), but only 14 percent are monogamous, according to data quoted in a research paper submitted to the American Journal of Sociology in 2000 by Stephen Sanderson, titled "Sociobiology, Status, and Parental Investment"
Is Stephen Sanderson a Chrisitan? Is he a polygamist? I don't know this person? Is he speaking from a Christian perspective?
~Carla
LB,
Sis. Carla I don't have any personal knowledge of whether Stephen Sanderson is saved or not but I don't suppose salvation is a requirement for intelligence or accurate data gathering, is it?
if this man is not a Christ Follower..the datahe has compiled should have no bearing what-so-ever in our discussions--or his opinion. the bible gives instructions for the one's who belong to the Lord.
I agree with you on this... "Prove ALL things! Hold fast that which is good."
Let's leave it at that. This discussion is in risk of becoming divisive and i don't believe either one of us wants that.
Blessings, Carla
Michael,
Twice now you have chosen to use my name in your illustrations. I am curious as to why you have chosen my name to single out in these illustrations?
Lord Bless,
LT
