All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

How does one know one is marrying the right person? My belief is very few people marry the right person, as in being in God's will. Whether a marriage ends in divorce or not is inconsequential to the question. Because I believe a % stay married, but it still does not mean they are married to the right person.

God has the power to make any person the right person in a marriage situation

David,

Thanks for the marriage info. I will enjoy reading it the first chance I get. Now re your next post, I believe God can heal a marriage, but only if both parties are yielded to Him, however usually that is not the case.  At one point God began teaching me about how to know one is marrying the right one. I thought it is a curious thing that most ppl are so unprepared for one of the most important decisions they will ever make in their lives. If you ask someone who is getting married how he/she knows they are marrying the right person, they will usually not know what to say. Too many have grown up on movies instead of the Bible. Personally, I think this is such an important issue, that I sought the Lord to understand it and have been very enlightened by what He taught me. I rarely meet anyone who understands this subject. And I rarely meet anyone who has a truly blessed marriage although I believe a small % do.

I noticed where you recently got married. I hesitate to even congratulate those who are engaged or newly married as I am always wondering if they listened to God for their marriage partner. Don't misunderstand, I wish every new couple the best, but really, really wonder if they were in God's will when got engaged or went to the alter. This is one of my favorite subjects, as like I said, think it is so lacking the way most couples go into a marriage relationship so misguided and so clueless in knowing if they are in God's will. I thought this topic might garner some interest, but other then you, not a single person has responded. If there is someone here with a marriage that is fully in God's will I would of thought they would of said something by now. And even if they started off in marriage all wrong, thought there might be a few who could at least say they learned to submit themselves to God and He healed their marriage. Maybe this thread will revive. I hope so lol.

Hi Nancy,

This is exactly what I believe! We must be listening to the same Holy Spirit lol. At a point in my life when I was studying about what marriage should be, God taught me what you are saying here as well as a number of other things. After He opened my eyes to what a real marriage in Christ is, He lead me to read a book called "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" by Josh Harris. The book totally confirmed what He taught me. Every believer contemplating marriage should read this book. Whenever I hear someone say they are engaged or getting married, I caution them that so many think they have the right one they are marrying, but how do they know for sure. Then I tell them about this book and say wouldn't you like to know of a certainty that you are about to marry the right person? I've had a number of divine encounters re this because I care so much that believers won't make a mistake they will live to regret. It just amazes me that so few really know what Christian marriage is and how to be in the Lord's will for the one they are marrying. I feel that most churches fail to do the job of preparing believers for this most important life commitment. The enemy is having a hey day destroying marriages left and right. It doesn't have to be that way if believers will learn to listen to the Lord.

Love ya,

Jane

AMEN David.
