All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

One can look around and see the signs of the times.  Our world grows more corrupt every day.  The Lord is coming back soon.  We all know that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.

When global economies teeter, the average American faces financial disaster, and political upheaval heightens, then something has to give.

Here are some questions we need to ask ourselves.

What will most Christians do when things turn really bad?

Are our hearts truly prepared to deal with hard times?

Hi Michelle, God bless you!

My family has an emergency plan, and we know where we'll meet. Revelation 8:5--And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

We've had a lot of unexplained fires recently. The newspersons claim it's caused by lightning. It does mention thunderings and lightnings in v5 too. Whether or not we are in the Revelation 8:5 times, I don't know.

Luke 17 has information for us. In v32 Jesus specifically exhorts us to remember Lot's wife. She looked back. In my opinion, she didn't want to leave. I look at these verses like the Lord's specific instructions and emergency plan

vs 20-35--Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them. For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. Remember Lot’s wife! Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”

It makes sense because there probably won't be time to run after possessions. The Word also talks about God hiding His people in the time of trouble. There is a verse about God's people being hidden in the cliffs, but I can't find it right now.

Psalm 83:1-3--Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: (Revelation 1:1)

It was close back then. It says things which must shortly come to pass so it must be really close now.

Love,

Mary

Hi Michelle,

I don't have my concordance. I'm at work.  There's a verse that talks about bringing it all down in an hour. I heard a teaching about Revelation 8:5. The minister said he almost wishes he hadn't seen that verse. He forgot Revelation 1:3...Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. I believe God will protect us. There's lots of verses about God hiding His people and protecting them. Sometimes I think we are on the verge of the Sixth seal, but I can't say for certain. I made a chart of the sequence of things, and that's what I came up with. I'm only a student.

Love,

Mary

I have also been thinking hard about this. I am not getting any direction from God as to what to do. I am almost thinking of stopping my investing and start coming up with a survival kit. The things that are happening in China where they are drifting away from being dependant of our currency is a very serious thing. I am going to continue to talk to God. I know he will protect me through the begininngs of the hardship. I am pretty good with dealing through tough times as I know what it is like to survive on $90 a week.

But as far as an emergency plan, we have not given it much thought. Its been business as usual. Our government is printing funny money to the tune of 200 million a day just to keep up with the interest. It is worse than we think it is. Look what happened to Detroit. They have over 80,000 buildings vacant. That will be what the rest of America will look like I am afraid. Marshall Law will run rampant. It will not be pretty, and it will happen quick. I will be clutching onto my most prized possession, and that is the Bible!! It is also at that time where the disbelievers will suddenenly listen to what we have been telling them all along. When those hard times hit people will finally reach out to God. It is up to us to calm these people down and teach them that there is time for them to be saved. But the big question is, will we be around to save these people? God Bless the unbelievers that they find God from now til that time.

I don't even think on this at all.  I know that God said we will not know the hour or the day.  So why even try to guesstimate.  God never said to prepare for the end times, but to always guard our hearts since we won't know when.  I'm sure the people of Sodom and Gomorrah probably thought it was near the end times too.  All the sexual sin.  There were famines, wars, rumors of wars, etc.  People have been claiming the end of time since the beginning of time and all it does is cause unnecessary worry for some.  Therefore for me, it's simply a non-issue.  We need to stay right before God daily and not try to guess when to "get right" or prepare, "like those who have no hope".

What will most do when things turn really bad?  What did Peter do?  None of us are any better than Peter.  Yet Jesus loved him and called him His own.  Do we want to deny Him as Peter did, and three times even?  No.  That's why God weighs the heart.  Maybe it's why so many of us face hard times now...to toughen us up?  I don't know.  I know that most days I don't think I WANT to be tough if this is what it takes.  I'm tired of the pain.  And maybe it has nothing to do with end times at all.  But whatever doesn't kill us is supposed to make us stronger....or at least it's what I've been told.  But whether Jesus comes today or in the year 4,000, it's one thing I won't worry over cause today has enough worries...and believe me, today has more than it's share very often anymore.  On this, I choose not to worry.  I can only do my best every day and some days I'm not at my best.  But is my heart right?  That's the only concern.

Seek, I do live by your train of thought. But sometimes the devil sneaks in there and throws me all kinds of crazy thoughts. That is when I lean on this site for answers, along with the bible and my own conversations with God. The evil that is the devil goes away very quickly when you tell God to give you the strength. He was pure magic yesterday and I learned so much about how solid I actually am. He has been so consistent with me so far that I need not worry about what the future holds.

Good post by the way and one that everybody should trust!!
