Matthew,

In my opinion, I don't think it really matters why we come to Him. The main thing is you did. Because you've returned to Him or turned to Him for the first time doesn't mean you fall asleep & wake up with a TAH-DAH moment. It just means the Spirit of Him now lives in you to create what He desires. It's no longer about you. The temptations of the world & flesh will continue to haunt you because you did these things for a good many years. There are many Scriptures you can fall back on when these temptations come. I find that helpful to quote those aloud when I find my flesh is weak but my Spirit is willing & so wants to do His will. You have gotten a lot of great advice here so I really don't have a lot to add. I'm praying for you though brother. This will be an uphill climb but once we've all reached the top, what a glorious site to see. May He bless all of your obedience.

When you climb a stairway, do you start at the beginning or do you jump to step number 7?  Course, I went to school with some boys that skipped a few steps. It's like they were all legs. I can still visualize this kid named Otto taking 4 steps at a time. What you said makes perfect sense. If you give a steak and potatoes to a baby, the baby will choke. A baby needs milk. There's nothing wrong with drinking milk for a while, and sometimes once you've tasted meat and potatoes you still enjoy a cup of milk too. You don't want to leave the milk behind. This is a neat verse...

Like newborn infants, desire the pure spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it for your salvation, since you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1Peter 2:2,3 CHSB)

Love,

Mary

Amen Mary

You all always know what to say, I see God in you, I see God on this site. I thank Him for having led me to it. I hope soon, I will be like all of you, actively partaking in the matters of the Kingdom of God, with faith, wisdom, understanding from the Holy Spirit Who dwells in you.

From reading the article about not feeling saved, I saw a reflection of me. I let emotions and feelings lead me, when I am supposed to be leading them. I have tried to justify the things I've gone through, while I've been saved (born again) with feelings and emotion. It's been almost three years and my maturity in the Spirit, is like that of a toddler still.
It is my fault I am in this state and the truth is, I know the truth about how to get out of this funk I'm in, but I am overcome by laziness and procrastination every time I try to apply that truth. I am tired. I don't want this empty life anymore.
Will this always be me? Will I always be this "I'm about to pray, or read the word, or just be still and listen to what He has to say" person,
but never really getting around to it. I am so tired. So drained. (Tired and drained are also feelings...sigh!)
We're glad the Father has drawn you here to AAG, Nicki. I will remind you of the words from the Holy Spirit, written through the Apostle Paul: “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

None of us are going at the same speed or growing at the same rate. It's highly unlikely that any two people are progressing in their spiritual lives identically.

As a friend was just telling me moments ago, "Do less, do it well. Let the weight of the world go. We don't have much influence upon the Big picture. He has it under control. Do Less but Do it well... Trust yourself, trust Him and don't worry so much."

I tend to struggle with worrying.

I agreed with him that it is best to make small goals and don’t worry if you don’t reach them all. Sometimes, living moment to moment, or one day at a time is the hardest thing to discipline oneself to doing, when it should just automatically be the rule of thumb.

A fruit of the Spirit is patience. Can you show it to yourself?

Jesus spent three years with His twelve disciples and they were still making slow progress even though being with Him face to face.

He is just as committed to your growth as He was to their growth.

Don't give up on yourself. Let’s not give up on God either.

Amen Amanda. As she said, we all grow at different paces. The great thing I see is that you have that desire to want to know Him better. Some don't give it a 2nd thought. She also said do less but do it well. I've always said I'd rather do 10% if I give it 100% than to do 90% & give each 10%. It's not always easy to open that Bible or even where to read when you do. Sometimes, we don't know the words to say to pray. Give it time lil' sister. It will come.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 - He's got this

Patience with myself: I will give it my all.

If this is not an answer from God, then I don't know what is. The Bible verse you qouted has been coming up a lot lately, I mean I even have it as my phone's wall paper, but it never meant much to me until I read your comment.

I asked God to give me a way out of the things that oppress me, and I see now that those things are weaknesses for me to boast about. Although I have no idea on how to go about doing that...boasting about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may dwell in me, I mean. :) I will take that up with God.

Thank you Amanda.

Hi Matthew, God bless you!

You may ask yourself how potent can...I and my Father are one..be? I assure you since it is in the Word of God, and our Lord's own words, it is potent. I have thought of it and spoken it in moments of intense pressure.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:8 KJV)

Remember you are one with the Lord, and God is love.

Mary

Matthew, I feel for you and hope you feel better soon. So many are praying for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
